Is there a hog season, bag limit, minimum firepower or any other restrictions?
Does it taste gamey?
My uncle used to be able to shoot them on Catalina Island CA with a .45 ACP...
There is no season. It’s open season.
I have only had it in sausage, with cheese and jalepeno and it is fine.
I have never had the meat cooked straight.
Its my understanding that gaminess is dependent on what they are foraging.
If the are eating post oak acorns they will be gamey.
If they are eating corn and peaches they wont.
It is my belief that there must be a way to cure even the gamey ones in a way that will produce a good ham.
Guys around here buy SKS’s as cheap tools just to kill them.
