National Review for the most part has gone RINO.
But then again, you have Mark Steyn, no establishmentarian, and no Romney supporter, who pens the following article on Gingrich. Well worth a read:
http://www.nationalreview.com/articles/print/286068
“McCarthy recounted some of Gingrich’s spectacular conservative successes:
“Gingrich is the candidate who can say he actually wrestled the federal budget into balance . . . “
In an election about the imperative to repeal Obamacare, Gingrich is the candidate who helped defeat Hillarycare by comparison, Governor Romney ushered in a health-care system that became a model for Obamacare (and he stubbornly continues to insist that it was a great achievement the main reason he cant crack the 25 percent ceiling in most polls).”
“Gingrich is the candidate who reformed welfare which, the Editors acknowledge, is ‘the most successful social policy of recent decades.’
the author Mark Stein was on Fox this AM.
He was not by any stretch supporting Romney...just exposing some of Newts more liberal failings.
Mark is a regular replacement for Rush...and his article was not a RINO love vest by any stretch.
unfortunately we have to give serious consideration to Newt if the choices turn out to be Newt or Romney.
Gee, I remember when the National Review used to bash liberals almost as hard as it now bashes conservatives.
Damage Control - nothing more, nothing less.
Sadly, this is looking more like an instant replay of 2008 every day. With an eventual billion dollars in his campaign war chest, Obama and the Dems are licking their chops.
Don’t start believing the spew coming from the GOP elite leadership about Newt. They are just circling the wagons around Mitt. I don’t think they are going to pull it off this time around.
