The GOP Establishment's Primary Strategy Has Led to Ron Paul Creep

"But because the Republican Party insists on insider moderates or at least gives the impression that's who they support, then it opens the door for all kinds of people to make headway because the Republican primary base is not interested in who the establishment is interested in. It's just that simple. I'll tell you something I've been saying here for the last couple, three weeks, maybe even longer than that, that Mitt Romney can't get higher than 30% anywhere. Other than New Hampshire, he gets 35. But in truth no other Republican does, either. When you get right down to it, no other Republican is, either. Now, the reason for that is primarily this. The Republican establishment is trying to split the conservative vote among all the other conservative candidates, the Gingriches, Bachmann, Perry, Santorum, I don't mean to leave anybody out here, but they're dividing that vote in the hopes of securing the nomination for Romney."

"The problem is that the Republican primary voter does not want a moderate. They don't want somebody they perceive as being a moderate. The Republicans might say, "Hey, look, no, no, no, we're trying to tell you, Mitt's a strong conservative, he's the strongest conservative we got." Well, the Republican primary voters don't that believe when they're told that. So they're divvying up their votes elsewhere, and that is allowing a creep on the part of the Ron Paul. Ron Paul foreign policy is out there, along with the conspiracy theories and everything else, it is out there, and it's guaranteed defeat. It's guaranteed defeat. Republicans will take the gloves off if Ron Paul wins. None of this needs be happening. But the Republican Party is insistent governing against the will of its own voters, at least in the primary. That's how it appears to me."

The GOP Establishment’s Primary Strategy is going to lead to a third party next election cycle if they keep this up. But then stupid is as stupid does.

The MSM gathered behind Huntsman...when they saw him as a non-starter they moved to Romney.

I will NEVER vote for the media’s candidate for the GOP nomination...neither in the primaries nor in the general elections.

Great quote. To bad no one cares if vote or not. Typical libtard slogan .

Romney just strikes me as a creepy used car salesman. Cannot vote for a proven liar with no solid moral values. He is far too comprised on the issues. I’d be afraid to open his closet.

As much as anything, the other contenders are working hard to convince voters that they are just as nutty as Ron Paul.

Great tactics, insult someone then expect them to vote for you. You are a shoe in for RNC chairman.

First they went after Sarah Palin. Then they went after Herman Cain. Now they have moved onto Newt Gingrich. Who will be next in the cross hairs of the RINO establishment?

Me, neither, that's why a lot of this is just BS. No one can tell any of us who we must vote for. I think for myself and there is nothing anyone else can tell me to make me do otherwise.

If one is to believe all this "establishment" crap, we must also believe everyone sits around waiting for "the establishment" to call us to give us our orders.

The answer to that question will be that whoever else is your next candidate will be the one "the establishment" is out to get.

Funny, "the establishment" hasn't come after my candidate. I guess it's a matter of time because when my guy loses, I'll blame it on "the establishment".

If Paul wins in Iowa and the Establishment tries to cheat him of his victory, he will do a Nader, and I can’t blame him. He is not a Perot, however. I doubt he can do anything except enable Obama to win.If tis happens, then the Tea Party is likely to spllt from the Republicans and run candidates in congressional races in 2014. In any case, the Republicans are playing with fire. Without the base, they will be back to 2006.

PPP, a Democrat polling organization, 'pushes' Paul on top of a +/- 4% MOE on a sub-20% plurality (which statistically speaking, sticks Mittens-Paulbot-Gingrich together like oatmeal); but why of all people does Rush take the stinkbait? Did Cookie not have enough fluff to fill the slow news day?

This PPP poll is solely engineered to embolden Paul into a spoiler 3rd-party bid which would be flooded by Democrat money dumping some portion of Bobo's $1 billion war chest.

The only silver lining is that Rand is (and Rush should be!) completely aware of the shenanigans in play, and would prefer his dad didn't run 3rd-party.
