Just beginning my political “awakening” around then.

Ronnie was the first guy I ever turned out at a rally for.

Why do you ask?

Thanks for your reply.

I was working on House campaigns back then. The ones I was working on were trying to change congressional districts to republican for the first time either in their history or since Reconstruction. This all happened and my state is now changed completely. It truly was a kind of revolution here and many other places. Newt was a very big part of it.

The reason I asked is it surprised me when I first ran across the criticism of Newt or view on here along the lines of he hadn’t accomplished much, wasn’t interested in accomplishing things, etc., similar to your post.

It surprised me because of my image of Gingrich was the opposite of “not interested in accomplishing” or not being capable of doing big things. He was one of the biggest accomplishers (as GWB would say) in my political memory.

My resolution of this surprise was that maybe I was hearing this from folks who didn’t have this in their experience.

Wanted to try the theory out on you.

Thanks for reminding me that I’m old.

:)
