That Dan Fogelberg song is one of my favorites too but it does get a lot of airplay and I tried to keep this post about songs that most people do not know about.

Interesting trivia about the song, Fogelberg actually did run into an old girlfriend at a grocery store on Christmas Eve back in 1976. And as the bars were closed, they really did buy a six-pack and drink it in her car! After Fogelberg died of prostate cancer in 2007, the old girlfriend came forward and confirmed that she was the one in the song.

So the lyrics Fogelberg wrote were based on an actual experience which makes the song even cooler in my book.

Not spam at all! Glad I am turning people onto some great music. Blackmore’s Night deserves a much larger fan base and I’m glad to do my part.

Very nice.

Can I add the "Zippers"?

I'm familiar with the AC/DC Christmas tune but thanks for posting the link.

In the heavy metal vein, here is a version of Winter Wonderland that ends up as a cover of Misty Mountain Hop by Led Zeppelin. Pretty cool.

For those who didn't know; Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple, Rainbow, Blackmore's Night) became a father again at age 65. His son now has a sister nearly fifty years younger.

Wow.

Oops...that would be a ‘half-sister’...same dad, different mom.

Thanks for passing that link along. Celtic music is one of my favorite genres. If you are a Celtic music fan and have Sirius/XM radio, check out Larry Kirwan’s “Celtic Crush” show on the Spectrum channel. It comes on Saturday mornings between 7-10am. They are doing a Christmas theme show this coming Saturday.

Thanks Sam, and Merry Christmas from a fellow Masshole! Great list, enjoying the music. If you get a moment, give this one a listen, from my screen namesake's Christmas album. Jack Frost and the Hooded Crow.

I bought these Christmas downloads about a week ago and I gotta say they're the best 8 part harmonies I've ever heard, not to mention some pretty hip arrangements also.

Silver by Fire Singers. 2 volumes, 14 cuts cost me $6 total.

Bird and The Bee | Carol Of The Bells | YouTube Link
One of the better modern versions of this famous carol.

Blackmore's Night | Good King Wencelas | YouTube Link
One of my favorite Carols set to music by Blackmore's Night. I like the way this version builds to a majestic finish.

Tara MacLean | Light of the Stable | YouTube Link
Emmylou Harris has a version that's just as good but since many of you are familiar with that take, here is another great version by Tara MacLean.

Wizzard | I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday | YouTube Link
Guilty pleasure from my childhood. Yes, this is what music videos looked like back in the mid 1970s. Probably inspired by Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. A fun, upbeat song for Christmas.

Partridge Family | White Christmas | YouTube Link
Speaking of guilty pleasures, you can't get guiltier than the Partridge Family. But this was a pretty awesome take of "White Christmas" that never got old, even 40 years later. Brings back memories of when I was 10 years old.
