With the Jan. 3 Iowa Caucus fast approaching, several Republican candidates vying for their party's nomination are making their way around Iowa to reach out to potential caucus goers.
Among those candidates are Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann, who both made campaign stops in Cherokee on Friday.
Perry was the first in town and his event that was held at the Copper Cup early Friday afternoon with a large crowd that gathered in the quaint coffee house. The event however was more of a press conference than the typical campaign appearance, due to several members of the national media following the Perry Campaign.
Television camera crews, print media, photojournalists, web bloggers, and radio broadcasters all descended on to Cherokee.
News stories about Perry's stop in Cherokee were done by NBC, CBS, ABC, Newsday, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, New York Daily News, Associated Press, The Dallas Morning News, Des Moines Register and the Sioux City Journal.
John King of CNN broadcasted his show live from Cherokee and featured a sit-down interview with Perry at The Copper Cup.
Also welcoming Perry to town were representatives from Cherokee County, City of Cherokee, Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, and members of Cherokee Washington High School Student Council.
Perry spoke about Faith, Freedom, and Jobs as he made his case on why he should be the Republican nominee for President.
A more low-key event was held later in the afternoon as Michele Bachmann made her stop in Cherokee. Bachmann is currently making stops in all 99 counties in Iowa as part of her effort to gain back the front- runner status that she held earlier this year after placing first in the Iowa Republican Straw Poll.

........”in the next 2 weeks not just a handful but close to 2000 TEXANS plan to descend on Iowa.”....
that’s just great maybe then Perry can get 10% in Iowa,, get 10% in NH and come in 4th in SC.. he’s on his way
Well see.
Rather, “We’ll see!”
Waiting on that caffeine to kick in.
I prefer other SUVs, but to each her own.

If there is that much media following him it means they sense something (or know somehthing) is about to happen. He really is connecting with the people.
LoL
Bump!
U.S. Republican Presidential candidate and Texas Governor Rick Perry (L) greets attendees at a campaign stop in Spencer, Iowa December 17, 2011.
There is a bus filled with media following Perry and his bus across Iowa.
Perrys Iowa bus tour route -- and a video "Hi" from Perry on the bus.
From that map it looks like he’s hitting every town or city in Iowa!
I hope people from towns he won’t make will try to come out and meet him.
The last town they’ve scheduled (that I’m aware of) is Perry, Iowa.
Perry/Bachmann...has a nice ring to it!
LoL
Bump!
I hope, I hope. I didn’t realize the media was following him. That’s good news. All I see on tv is mitt & newt.
According to FOX he doesn’t exist, but I think that ends up being to Perry’s advantage. He’s been able to practice and bring his game up without the glare of the media spotlight. I watched his appearance in Deluth on You Tube and it was flawless!
Thank you McGavin, that is good news. I’ve met him and found him to be a good man, articulate, charming and smart.
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.
