Could the race in Iowa really go to a man who has spent the least amount of time in the state among all of the candidates vying for caucus-goers? Rasmussens latest poll of 750 likely caucus-goers show Romney with a small but statistically significant lead, 25% to 20% for new second-place candidate Ron Paul. But the big move may be from the second tier:

This poll supports that conclusion.
Ron Paul will not be the nominee.
None of the other candidates will be able to stop Romney. It's just not going to happen. If Romney does well (and Newt does poorly) in Iowa, he will be setup to run to boards. As long as the Not Romney's refuse to coalesce around a candidate, Romney will take it. Ron Paul only serves to ensure that this will happen.
I still find Paul's polling numbers to be suspect. Is he over-polling? I can't believe that Iowa has gone that nuts.
With respect, Iowa voters can be quite nutty.
This is why I give NO credibility to polls.
Ron Paul, the man who advocated for Iran having the “bomb”, in second place in a conservative state?
Hello? Earth to Iowa?
Does anyone honestly think Iowa voters are going to go for a man who opposes ethanol subsidies? No, Paul will not finish either first or second in Iowa.
they will rig it for Romney because he is the machines choice...it will be more of the same...
Ronpaul is going for the "none of the above" voters. Of which I'm one.
But my sock drawer would get my vote before the geezer would.
Iowa’s not a conservative state—it’s a bipolar state. A conservative state doesn’t send Tom Harkin to Congress for years and years.
I have a suspicion that this might be more liberal pollster agit prop, trying to paint Republican voters as insane and racist extremists who want to destroy Israel and see Iran with the nuclear bomb. I expect the pollsters to start backing out their special sauce by the middle of next week. Then the story will be Paul’s precipitous drop in Iowa.
According to Jefferson's dictum--"that government governs best which governs least"--your sock drawer would make a damn fine President. On the other hand, someone has to sign the Obamacare repeal.
I think people took a look at Newt and did not like it. He has joined every trendy liberal cause in the last 5-10 years (even if he flipflopped back in most areas except amnesty).
There is still time. One of the non-NewtRomney candidates will be the alternative to NewtRomney. It is one of Bachmann, Santorum or Perry.
Remember, last time Huckabee was surprise winner in IA, single-digit candidate before IA.
We can have actual conservative this time.
Newt Gingrich, former conservative turned establishment scum: 17% and tanking
Where do you stand?
Iowa voters change their minds more often than your average cathouse whore changes mounting positions. Were it not so, they would cease to get the attention they crave.
I fear that if the party establishment gets their dream candidate it will split the party and Mitt will stay at 23% right through November 2012.
Ron Paul sounds reasonable when he is focused on his stump speech. It’s when you look behind his crotchety anti-everybody rhetoric that you realize how wild his views are.
I think a lot of Iowans (and other GOP voters) are just disenchanted by most of the candidates up there, so they like what Paul has to say in his stump speech and trend towards him.
But as time goes on (usually in 2 or 3 times of listening to him), his support quickly evaporates.
I think after everyone has been through the dressing room and tried on all the candidates, they will come back and settle on one. I’m guessing Newt.
You go with the devil you know.

But I'm beginning to wonder.
Hmm...I’m tempted, actually. What’s your sock drawer’s position on foreign policy?
Prolly find all the bad guys and sock 'em...
If Romney gets the GOP nod, then Digger’s sock drawer will be my write-in candidate.
Where can I get a bumper sticker and a yard sign?
