Santorum has been my guy from day 1, though up til now, I didn't think he had much of a shot.

I think he would make an outstanding president, frankly. He's a solid man. Good husband. Great father. Homeschooler. Pro-life. Pro-family. Strong on fiscal policy. Strong on international policy.

What's not to like?

Ping.

Perhaps it's time to start a Santorum ping-list.

Almost everything about him screams anti establishment...that’s what I love about him!

Joe Biden says He’s well spoken and clean too! I love Rick Santorum for President and would bet dollars to donuts Sarah endorses him if he gets more steam.

Santorum is decidedly the most dedicated Christian of the three: pro-family, pro-life, and pro-morality. But he is a Catholic, and it depends whether the Evangelicals are willing to recognize what he stands for.

Newt is also Catholic, now. But, I must say, not my kind of Catholic. I cannot judge his private life, but I will say that he does not strike me as having a firm moral foundation for public life.

Perry says he is a good Evangelical. I rather doubt it, from what I have seen. But he could suck votes away from the other Rick.

I think Santorum is the best of the bunch, unless Palin returns. But I don’t know if he has the polical strength necessary. Still, you can trust him, and I don’t trust any of the other current contenders.

"What's not to like?"

The only two things that can be held against him was his support (via pressure from the GOP establishment) of Specter over Toomey in the 2004 Republican primaries in Pa. And his big loss for re-election in 2006.

Campared to the other candidates baggage, this is trifling.

This is going to be Huckabee all over again, all he is doing is getting Romney the nomination.

Let’s be honest. Bachmann, Santorum or Perry are the only options.

NewtRomney is unacceptable. Their main difference is hair and religion.

I think I’ll send him some money........he’s at the top of my list among the “lower tier” of candidates. Hope to see him rise to the tippy top!

Rick Santorum is a nice guy, good husband, father...but not LEADER, He is much to wussy, and a professional politician, how does he support his large family running all over the country trying for political office???

I am a Pennsylvanian, he began his POTUS tour in Somerset, Pennsylvania, I was there, small crowd, he does not have the votes he will need..he is very weak politically, he didn't even try fighting for his Senate seat...nice guy, not Presidential.

Santorum has two really big things going against him.

First he was a ‘senator’ and is still called as such. Obama & McCain saw to it that the senate is no place to find a president whether it’s earned or not.

Secondly he was also pro-Arlen Spectacle (see first point) for which many will never forgive him and he’s still paying an awful price for that in flyover country.

I like Santorum. Really I do. But I think he isn’t going anywhere in the polls because he lacks the money and political machinery to compete with the big guys - right now Romney and Gingrich. The same is true of Bachmann.

Like it or not, and I don’t particularly do, we will have to choose between ROmney and Gingrich unless someone better suddenly appears and I DON’T mean Chris Christie.

But this has been a roller coaster of a race and who knows. Stranger things have happened and we may be chosing between Santorum and Romney - and THAT is NO CONTEST and a no brainer in my opinion. See my tagline.

Rick is a good guy. Unlike a lot of Pennsylvania conservatives, I forgive him for the indiscretion of supporting Specter over Toomey in the 2004 primary. He was chairman of the Republican Senate Election committee and being a good soldier and taking orders from Bush and Rove.

A bad move, to be sure. But it doesn't wipe out the years of good he did serving in congress.

My biggest fear is electability. He couldn't even crack 40% in his reelection bid against the empty suit Bob Casey, the dumbest guy with a penis in the U.S. Senate.

If he can pull off an upset in Iowa, people may be willing to take a second look.

Today on his show, Rush gave quite a nice endorsement for Santorum. Not a endorsement in the traditional sense but very warm, kind words on his behalf.

I'd happily support Santorum (or Bachmann, or Cain, or Palin) as such a nomination would be indicative of a swing in government back to "of the people, by the people, for the people". Candidates of this caliber drive the liberals with their hands held out looking for their free goodies crazy. Likewise they drive the elitist republican country club types who view themselves as the contemporary bourgeoisie equally mad. This to me, a joe-the-plumber type citizen, is a win. A big win. I don't see that impact coming from any of the other candidates at present. Not even with Gingrich. Though he is not a friend of the current bourgeoisie, I fear he'd be all to pleased to start his own country club. We need to determine who best to write-in when the GOP hands us Romney on the ballot. If that candidate is Santorum, I'm fine with it and totally on-board. The same goes for Bachmann, Palin, and Cain. It'll be a battle to talk me into any one else at present.

What's not to like?

The fact that he threw Toomey UNDER the bus against Spector, that is the only bad thing about him.

All this praise being heaped upon BVP is pure BS. The wheels are coming off as it is being reported that VP tried a million dollar shake down but of course, he’s denying it but he’s also denying he asked Bachmann to drop out of the race. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/12/21/vander-plaats-reportedly-asked-santorum-camp-to-help-raise-money-to-promote-endorsement/

I know who I believe.
