Rick Perry reached out for a little help from one of his biggest supporters Tuesday, with Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal joining him on the campaign trail.
While answering a question during a town hall meeting in Maquoketa, Iowa, Perry forgot about the about the standard deduction he built into his own flat tax plan, saying it would be gone.
Jindal quickly chimed in to correct him. "You actually keep the standard deduction in your flat tax," said the popular Bayou State Republican.
"Oh that's right, as a matter of fact we raise it to $12,500, uh, per family I think," Perry replied. "Thank you for correcting me on that governor... not that I ever make a mistake."

I love Perry stands on issues and I am as absent minded as anyone (but then again, I am not going to run for president).
Perry is just not ready for prime time.
You are playing the gotcha game, just like the msm wants you too. Rick Perry has a strong record, and he doesn’t have elastic morals. He’s the same person yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The msm cannot stand it, so they play the gotcha game.
“Oh that’s right, as a matter of fact we raise it to $12,500, uh, per family I think,”
You have to respect a man that speaks with strong confidence and conviction and can understand the tax policies that he developed on his very own.
Coming from the Romney News Network it would be nice to see a video rather than relying on Nick Kalman’s crack reporting.
I posted they only report when Perry fumbles. Well, here it is! We know who is being shoved down the public's throats. Ironically, Ron Paul is leading the polls. I guess the public is not taking the bait. Maybe people will wise up and give Perry another look.
The MSM is hanging on every word Perry says while speaking to groups all day long — waiting for the missed word or mistake.
The meme is he “messes up” so they want to keep it rolling in the news.
I would bet every candidate makes a verbal mistake each and every day but the MSM doesn’t want to dilute the “Qualying” of Perry.
This link is on FR from the Iowa Republican. Much better than the one you have. It mentions Jindal’s correction. More importantly, it isn’t lame stream media.
They should be so vigilant about the current administration.
Perry would be my top choice if only he had about 20 more IQ points.
How many people do they have following Perry around. Sure seems like there’s enough to catch every syllable spoken. It’s getting old with Perry, Newt, and others. Why doesn’t someone actually report on Obama and what he says. That would be new and different.
Are these the same people who told me Ronald Reagan was a dumb Governor?
Guess you like that rocket scientist in the WH now?
Go, Rick Perry!!
“I would bet every candidate makes a verbal mistake each and every day but the MSM doesnt want to dilute the Qualying of Perry.”
You are exactly right, but it gets even worse. During the debate, it was not Rick Perry who said that people who thought that tax payers should not fund the college education of illegal aliens were heartless, but it was really Newt Gingrich.
And when the MSM led us to believe that it was Rick Perry who could not name the federal departments that he would abolish, it was actually Herman Cain who could not name that Department of Energy!
The MSM, the pollsters and the Bilderbergs are simply working to destroy Rick Perry!
Give it a rest.
He only has the best record of any governor in the country. I’ll take him.
He’s a seminar poster who doesn’t appear to do anything more than post pro Newt or anti anyone else postings.
Perry went from 8% last week to 6.4% today. (RCP average)
Looks like the Romney attack ads taking down Newt didn’t help Perry one tiny bit. The man has zero credibility.
