Requiring people to have health insurance is "conservative," GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney told MSNBC on Wednesday, but only if states do it.
The argument aims to improve Romney's appeal to Republican voters concerned about the healthcare reform plan he signed into law as governor of Massachusetts in 2006. The Massachusetts law contains an individual mandate similar to the one in President Obama's healthcare law, which conservatives despise.
"Personal responsibility," Romney said, "is more conservative in my view than something being given out for free by government."

This is where we hold the line.
This is our Stalingrad.
This PHONY SON OF A BITCH MYTH FLIP SLICK WILLARD RINO ROMNEY MUST BE DESTROYED, along with his enablers in the conservative media and I'm talking Hannity and Coulter among others, if they don't cease and desist.
It's on, us against them, the RINOS and the Country Clubbers and the Washingtonians, and the fakes and the phonies must be STOPPED, the ROMNEYS REFUSE TO SERVE IN THE MILITARY, and MYTH FLIP SLICK WILLARD RINO ROMNEY will say or do anythings and flip positions on a dime in order to get elected.
NO WAY, NO HOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FUMR
Screw him, and screw Bain Capital as well. Bunch of damn corporate raiders.
If this POS Willard, Mittens, Mitt or whatever his name is, weasels his way to the nomination, then we are done.
FUMR
Mitt Romney will not ever get my vote.
Mitt Romney will not ever get my vote.
RUSH: Okay. So the reason people keep bringing this up is that you can go back to just last year, and you can hear Romney totally supportive of the mandate. Which is what the entire question of constitutionality on this bill is all about. That’s what’s going to be decided in the Supreme Court. Here’s Romney supporting it. But when he’s asked about it, “I’m gonna get rid of Obamacare, it’s horrible,” but in 2000, “Oh, there’s some things I like about it.” It just goes to the flip-flop nature, or the flip-flop charge, if you will.

If Romney keeps spewing nonsense like the stuff in this article, he’ll destroy his own campaign. Obamacare is as unpopular now (if not more) than it was when it was signed into law, in large part because of the mandate.
And he’s going to try to DEFEND that concept? He should paint an ‘L’ on his forehead.
Notice that it’s not that each state vote one whether they want it or not but rather, each state imposes it on their citizenry. The guy is truly mentally challenged.
Mitt really is one sorry dumb***. He has nothing going for him except the protection from the media and the GOP elite pimping him. I’m voting Newt in the primary, I’m not taking any chances with the libs and GOP and their tactics to get Mitt in. I will not wait to see who ‘gets it’ for the general.
OK, Mitt.
Then YOU pay for it.
Heart attack! And me with no insurance.
It is conservative to WANT people to be responsible for their medical bills. It is just plain authoritarian to try to FORCE them to do so.
The degenerate FLIP MYTH SLICK WILLARD RINO ROMNEY CORPORATE RAIDER OPPORTUNIST WEASEL AND COWARD needs to pull a HERMAN CAIN and "suspend" his campaign.
Due to the fact the he is a snake oil salesman who isn't fit to shine the shoes of any AMERICAN GI, MUCH LESS BE CIC.
He is a Statist AS$HOLE!
Yes, he's been spewing a lot of that lately. Last Sunday he was parroting OWS and pledging "no tax cuts for the rich because they make too much money anyway." Earlier today I saw that he is apparently opposed to the Iraq War and believes there were no WMDs. And now he's saying that state health mandates are 'conservative'
uhh
Gosh-o-jee-zee...I cannot...CANNOT ... S-T-A-N-D this man! I’m going to be sickened to the core should he manage to win the nomination.
This is the same BS his minions used to post here on FR. Blah blah blah ‘personal responsibility’. Blah blah blah ‘auto insurance’.
If only this election wasn’t so important, it would be worth it have him get the nod just to show these ‘consultants’ how serious I am when I say that I will NEVER vote for Mitt Romney. And there are millions like me.
