For Democrats in Hawaii, Unease in an Oasis
By ADAM NAGOURNEY

HONOLULU Hawaii should be a happy outpost for the Democratic Party. It has a Democratic governor. Democrats overwhelmingly control the Legislature. It has Barack Obama in the White House and all the prestige that brings, most recently an Asia-Pacific economic summit meeting with the president as its host, packing this citys streets, restaurants and hotels with international leaders.
Yet these are hardly happy days for Hawaii Democrats. The governor, Neil Abercrombie, is ending his first year under a storm of criticism; he referred to himself the other evening as the most unpopular governor in America. Mr. Obamas struggles in Washington have cast a bit of a pall here.
And the Republican Party suddenly has a shot of picking up a United States Senate seat that has been in Democratic hands for more than 30 years, with the announcement by Linda Lingle, a Republican former governor, that she will seek the seat held by Senator Daniel K. Akaka, the retiring Democrat. A Republican victory here would be a serious embarrassment to Mr. Obama (though that could be the least of his problems on election night) and would make it that much more likely that Republicans take back the Senate.

Did we quit when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?! Hell no!
I think MooseShell should be out in the fields chopping pineapples to put up in the WH stores for the rest of her term.
Who’ll eat our spam then?
Do they still raise pineapples in Hawaii ?
Who can afford Spam, Have you priced it lately?
“Goodby Frank.”
“What’s going on Steve?”
“I’ve been reassigned to Greenland.”
“Why?”
“Some stray cat got in and crapped on the lawn.”
“So?”
“So, I went and got a bowl to clean it up and I left the bowl by the pool and the President got it and told everybody it was the best poi he’s ever had.”
“Stay warm, Steve.”
Little news for ya... pineapple as an export from Hawaii is no longer an economic producer for the Isles... pineapples for world and US export are largely grown in china. In fact, it is the same with sugar cane. Hawaii’s once big exports are no more. If you visit Hawaii, you can bet that most souvenirs sold there, come from china... democrats favorite place for growing an economy...
——and for all these years, I’ve thought that is was the Japanese who bombed Pearl Harbor-—silly me!
Forget it. He's on a roll.
and Hawaii is blessed to be part of Asia as recently announced by The Won.
Japan bombed us not germany.
Uh....It’s a joke. From the movie “Animal House”.
And I thought it was from “Joe Biden’s History of the World.”
Well, they do have a mansion in Chicago next to their Rezko pal. It is just easier to take advantage of the taxpayer like the uber-grifters they are.
It’s a silly little excuse for a “State”. Or for a viable economy. Or for a viable culture. Strategically good harbor, boringly nice weather, pretty beaches and such. That’s about it. Spent four years there and was quite, quite glad to return to the USA.
hmm, when was the last time the ubama tribe went to Chicago and stayed in their own mansion? You’d think they were worried about getting served or something... surely the kids would enjoy a traditional Chicago kwanzaa with the neighbors, Rahmbo, Ayers and Farrakhan
is Harrison J Bounell living there as a housesitter? Keeping up the yard and such...
