So they would have the woman out "working", and "HIRE" someone to come in a do the house work and a babysitter? There was a comment about this by a FReeper the other day.
The FReeper was talking to a female friend. The friend said, approximately, that "She was making $50/hr, and a nanny only cost $15/hr, so it was more cost-effective to go to work and hire a nanny".
Freeper's reply? "So, you think that your kids only deserve a $15/hr Mom, and not a $50/hr one?"
Perfect squlech, IMO.
I think that it's one thing if you NEED to work - or - if you CHOOSE to work. But, to choose to work, just to fulfill some feminist fantasy, is ridiculous

Yeah we all know that they couldn't actually enjoy what they do or be helping others while working in their profession. Most stay-at-home moms I know are uneducated. Just saying...

Good comeback on that.
In my day, I could not earn enough money to come out ahead, but when I tried my kids suffered.
Today, the govt has taken so much out of the paycheck, the women have to work to make up the differance, and some do very well.
With the divorce rate and or single moms, they have no choice but to go to work, and that is very sad, for them, the children, and our country.
The gov't is mostly to blame for all this mess, they have designed the welfare state, marriage "bad" taxes, etc., but all of that would take another thread and has been discussed many times.

I guess you are okay with a $15 an hour pediatrician? I don't know of anyone who endured medical school just to live out a fantasy...
