Gingrich swats Ron Paul’s foreign policy: ‘He doesn’t want to blame the bad guys’

Despite his promise to avoid attacking his opponents during the Republican presidential primaries, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said on Thursday that Texas Rep. Ron Paul’s popularity comes from “people who want to legalize drugs.”

Gingrich then went on to criticize Paul’s foreign policy views as naïve.

“[Paul] is a guy who basically says, if the United States were only nice, it wouldn’t have had 9/11,” Gingrich said during a radio interview, according to National Journal. “He doesn’t want to blame the bad guys. … He dismisses the danger of an Iranian nuclear weapon and seems to be indifferent to the idea that Israel could be wiped out.

“And as I said, I think the key to his volunteer base is people who want to legalize drugs.”

Paul is getting the "burn baby burn" vote.

Having lynched the legitimate Tea Party voices for reform out of the race, the GOP political machine is now reaping what it has sown, a radicalized, polarized voting base.

Way to go morons.

It’s ridiculous. We have a bunch of candidates with foreign policies ranging from workable to insane, but all have insane domestic policies, that would make their foreign policies unaffordable, and we have one candidate with insane foreign policies, but the only sane domestic policy, the only one that would allow us to be able to afford the foreign policies of the rest of them. It’s enough to make me stay home on election day.

About time Paul got a spanking on foreign policy. Neo-isolationism will not work in our modern age. We know from history that a weak defense only invites aggression.

LOL! He's probably right. Go Gingrich. Despite his ridiculous promise not to go negative, I do LOVE his fighting spirit and ability hit back quickly - where it hurts - when provoked. Very nice change from Bush the doormat/dishrag. What a frustrating time that was. Gingrich just needs to keep it focused primarily on the Dems and only hit back at fellow Repubs in response to them hitting him.

If Iowa gives Paul a win, they will be the brunt of scorn and ‘knock knock’ jokes for a generation.

I guess this is a weak defense policy:

* Make securing our borders the top national security priority.

* Avoid long and expensive land wars that bankrupt our country by using constitutional means to capture or kill terrorist leaders who helped attack the U.S. and continue to plot further attacks.

* Guarantee our intelligence community’s efforts are directed toward legitimate threats and not spying on innocent Americans through unconstitutional power grabs like the Patriot Act.

* End the nation-building that is draining troop morale, increasing our debt, and sacrificing lives with no end in sight.

* Follow the Constitution by asking Congress to declare war before one is waged.

* Only send our military into conflict with a clear mission and all the tools they need to complete the job – and then bring them home.

* Ensure our veterans receive the care, benefits, and honors they have earned when they return.

* Revitalize the military for the 21st century by eliminating waste in a trillion-dollar military budget.

* Prevent the TSA from forcing Americans to either be groped or ogled just to travel on an airplane and ultimately abolish the unconstitutional agency.

* Stop taking money from the middle class and the poor to give to rich dictators through foreign aid.

OK—some of Ron Pauls ideas are good—very good in fact—but so were Ross Perot’s

Although I am sympathic to the sentiment that our military should be only used in our country’s and our ally’s interest and not a global force directed by globalists at the UN or anywhere else; Ron Paul’s foreign policy would make the US into a death trap.

He wrongly assumes that once he pulls us out of the world militarily, suddenly the jihadists, Russia and China will love us because we are now “minding our own business.” They would hit us and our allies without mercy.
