My husband and I lived in DC when we were first married—many years ago. He was stationed at Boling Air Fore Base.
At that time, it was a really nice place to live—it even seemed safe to walk around after dark.
It’s a shame that it is now what it is.

I lived in DC in the mid-70s and again in the early 80s. I travel on business to DC about once a year, on average. It seems safer now than it did back then.

With the exception of the well policed enclaves like it has become a liberal run plantation/ghetto and a national embarrassment.
Each day all of the tourikst attractions close in plenty of time to bus the tourists out before the street people take over for the night.
