“So what’s the problem with these tax cuts for working people?”

For one thing, the two month nature of this means businesses have two segregate their SSA reporting for the first quarter into two reports.

I’m also left wondering on what planet are we now inplementing tax policy in 60 day blocks - talk about an unpredictable business environment!

I have also read that one mechanism to pay for this is a $17/month ‘fee’ attached to Fannie/Freddie loans. I have no idea what Fannie and Freddie have to do with SS, and I have a feeling there will be nothing temporary about this fee.

Finally, unlike clamoring for less spending and lower taxes, this is tinkering with an already fixed committment - the SS you have been promised, in return for the confiscation of a portion of every paycheck. Its hard to ‘lower spending’ in SS, without breaking promises...and my crystal ball sees needs testing for SS recipients in the near future, as a result of the tax spigot being turned down....and that is morally wrong, and not all all what people were ‘promised’, at the barrel of the federal gun.

What a dreamer, please point out which republican other than RP will dismantel anything. If you think Mitt will get rid of obama care your dreaming, Bachman is personal invested in the current tax code, her family are tax attournies, Rick Santorum can’t wait to face down Iran, and kick homo’s out of the military, Newt said on Beck that he was a Reale Polotik Wilsonian, willson was one of the worst presidents ever, he Resegragated the military, he played that white supremisist movie in the white house he was the original progressive democrat.
Rick Perry is in my estimation, GWB II at best.

Ah, you're a Ron Paul fan. That explains everything.

By the way, have you had a chance to research that "spell check" feature here on Free Republic?

lacrew,
Bingo, you ID’d the big lie. This isn't a federal income tax cut, this is a cut in taxes paid to the Social Security trust fund. Social Security already has problems, will the difference be made up from the general budget funds at some future point?

What in the world is right about reducing the funds raised to pay for Social Security which is already underfunded for its current liabilities? Funding of Social Security comes directly from the FICA, or also called the payroll tax.

I see this as another scheme to underfund it so badly that the current system will be bailed out and in such killing the current system and it will be morphed into just another welfare program. Under the current system, your retirement disbursement is based on how much you paid in over the years. That will go away with a one (small) size fits all and General Fund Revenues (income taxes) will have to be raised dramatically just so the elderly living under the new system will be able to afford Milk Bones for snacking material.

All taxes go into the general fund, there is no trust fund, lock box, whatever. The only reason the U.S. is not bankrupt is people still by our bonds, hoping somehow we’ll pay them back, of course they will never get there money back, the last person at the party will get stuck with the bill, like MF Global, Corsine got his, he dosen’t care what happens now!!

Republican congressional leaders should be protesting the main stream media for lying and telling half truths about the tax cut extension. They should make such a big stink about it that it would have to be reported. Republicans wanted the tax cut extension for a year while BO only wanted for 60 days. The MSM reports only that Republicans are against extending BO’s tax cut proposal. I can’t stand these Republican weenies.

“Throw them all out.:

Just like Schweitzer’s book is titled. This should be the mantra on everyone’s lips. Just keep repeating throw them all out until it resonates from the mountain tops.
