OMG that was MY UNIT! I missed COL North by that much!
Colonel North has done well supporting our troops.
Wives, children, Moms and Dads, just a very small number of us really in this country have empty seats ‘round the tree or at the table this year.
For me, it makes me sick to see the sacrifices made for such a sorry damn government and such a sorry damn lot of people.
Mostly it makes me vomit at the thought that these young men and women are working like they do to allow the political pukes to play the damn political games they do while living their lives of ease and privilege. They aren’t worth it, they don’t deserve it. It is they who should have a taste of the misery of a mountain outpost or the grind of missions and alerts one after another and of working while you are sick with fever because others are depending on you. This political class make mistakes without consequence, walk away and continue as before... nothing happens to them very often. Our troops walk a very straight line where one honest mistake can end years of a perfect career.
Neither the politicians or most of the people are worthy of their lives of ease and comfort provided by the hand of our troops and by hard working, sober tax paying Americans. Both of the latter groups are getting way short changed for their contributions to the rest of the society.
For those who work hard, are honest and honorable... Merry Christmas. You are the ones who justify the sacrifices.
The rest can go to hell.
