***Those smutty bodice-rippers of the 1970s and 1980s had the most ruthless, stalking rapists imaginable. ***
70s and 80s? You should have seen the COVERS of the pocket books from the 1930s through the 1960s! And the interiors-WOW! Blood and sex on the cover!
And those weren’t even the porn books! It was said in the business that the seller had about 5 seconds to catch they eye of a passerby and make a sale.
I believe they toned the covers (except the porn) down after Robert Kennedy was shot.

(Have you met Elsiejay?) Let me guess, people are always getting you and Elsiejay confused?
They often confuse me and Graybeard58, much to his chagrin.
Merry Christmas!

Those who watch porn become bored and crave more and different types of porn. Nothing good can come of it.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That describes my first marriage.
My husband's occasional Playboy magazine then mushroomed into hundreds and then thousands of dollars of mail-order porn. The final straw for our marriage was when he was leaving work to go to massage parlors for “massages”. I was working as a nurse at the time, and he could spend as much as I made in a day on one massage. He lost his job about this time, and I suspect that it was because his addiction was interfering with his work.
He addiction was untenable emotionally, physically, spiritually, and financially. I was reduced to being a mere object and tool in his blinding addiction. He flat out refused to get help and was in complete denial.
He did remarry. My son tells me that his second wife also threatened divorce. I suppose the prospect of a second failed marriage was enough for him to finally face up to his addiction and seek the help he needed. They are still married after more than 20 years and 3 children.

If the orgy was a human constant, it would have been enshined culturally as the norm. It isnt. I cant think of a single human culture in which people copulate en masse and then produce babies. Instead, the cultures that Im familiar with all have ceremonial marriage between two people, who are then encouraged to find a place alone and do what must be done. This is especially true in post-hunter-gatherer cultures. A man will work harder to support children that he knows are HIS, than he will work for a collective. A woman who wants a man to work hard for the sake of her and her kids needs to ensure that he has confidence the kids are his.

On a scale of 1-10, definitely above seven.

She had a stupid question at the end of her comment. The men who wrote, signed and understood the Constitution accepted that obscenities, slander and some other kinds of speech were not protected.
People who think the intent of the First Amendment gives protection to obscenity and porn have wrongly calibrated moral compasses.

What is really sad is that there was no need for this first marriage to fail. He had many good qualities.
