I say they accepted the Dem premise that this is a tax cut and were trying to extend it for a year, when it is a DEFUNDING of Social Security. A holiday from FICA was proposed to help the economy, but the time is up; now they want to extend it, the Dems are calling NOT extending it a tax hike, and the Repubs are accepting Dem language, as usual.

If they had any backbone, they would have said no deal. You dems are defunding SS when it is already going broke.

The Repubs simply cannot tell it like it is, maybe because they can't see it like it is.

Now, they are TEMPORARILY (yeah, right!) funding SS with a tax on new mortgages and refinancing, which will be paid Tah Dah!!! --by the haves, while the have nots will not pay a dime.

Looks like another ploy for Income Redistribution to me. Will FICA ever be reinstated? I doubt it. I also doubt the mortgage fee will make up the difference and more "fees" will be instigated elsewhere.

They have been farting around and taking heat over this while letting EPA close coal utilities, putting thousands more out of work and raising electric bills. They are letting the Admin and EPA/treehuggers keep the pipeline from being built and making thousands of jobs.

Are these "leaders" stupid, inept, don't give a fig, or on the shady side?

it is a DEFUNDING of Social Security.

No, it’s a lowering of the payroll tax. Your money is taken from your paycheck and spent. It doesn’t go into a “trust fund” for your retirement. Social Security is a Ponzi scheme. And the payroll tax is a tax like any other tax. If you want to pay more taxes, be my guest. I for one am glad that payroll taxes will be somewhat lower so I can save more of my own money.

I say they heard from a lot of Republican voters — like me — who said, what the H—, Republicans are going to OPPOSE a tax cut? Republicans are going to take $1000 out of my paycheck next year? That’s not why I vote Republican!

I am confident that House Republicans heard from a lot of voters like me — mad-as-hell, overtaxed GOP voters like me — and they felt they heat and saw the light.

” - - - DEFUNDING of Social Security - - - “

If there is a “Trust Fund” for the Social Security System, then how can it exist when 1.) the Damned US Federal Government goes broke EVERY year?

and 2. The Damned US Federal Government has a total National Debt of 15 TRILLION dollars?

Like Santa, and honor among Democrats, the SSS Trust Fund DOES NOT EXIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The point is to STARVE, (by reducing ANY tax as all the tax money goes into the General Fund, not a trust fund), the spendaholic Federal Politicians that destroy our money at the rate of 1.7 Billion dollars a day. Well, that is based upon what Timmy Gee, the current Sheriff of Nottingham says.

BTW, since Robin Hood stole money from the Government, so would the Robin Hood of today be the Democrat Party? FDR would disagree, since he was the Father of Socialism in the now USSA, and Socialist can do no wrong - - - just ask any Democrat today.
