More criminals are wearing body armor. Do you have some for home defense? Nearly all .223 rounds defeat most common body armor, as does FMJ 7.62X25 from a CZ52 pistol.

As someone once put it... 'an enthusiastic 10 year old with an ice pick can defeat body armor'

Body armor is like group therapy mode weapons. Great for specific circumstances, but if they make you feel 2 meters tall and invulnerable, you are better off without them.

My guess is he was shot in the face but you are right there are a lot of calibers which will go right through some of the body armor.

I am not knowledgeable on the various levels and what they will stop but I saw a program not too long ago, I think on “The Military Channel” in which there was some which would stop about any normal pistol or even rifle rounds.

It sounds like they are making a lot of advances in body armor now.

One thing which I just thought of is a lot of pro gun organizations including I think, the NRA supported the banning of ammo which was designed to defeat armor.

I remember thinking at the time that the NRA was forgetting that citizens should be able to protect themselves from criminals wearing body armor.

I saw this same subject being discussed on another forum this morning. It is becoming more common.

as does FMJ 7.62X25 from a CZ52 pistol.

I have a CZ-52...after I installed a Harrington competition spring return firing pin and a slide stop lever, it is now a pretty reliable gun with about a 3lb trigger. The mags still like to fly apart on occasion.

I'll keep my HK P30 at the ready though...with 15 rounds, I'm likely to get one to the head.

My daughter’s shotgun will deter an armed attack.

No, just trying to make sure the media can't paint them as a bunch of extremists. Of course the media responds by painting them as a bunch of extremists anyway.

Head shot always trumps body armor. The homeowner did good.

You can always count on a 12 gauge slug getting someone’s attention. If you hit them in the head, you’ll get a lot more.

Yes the media was screaming about “cop killer bullets” and the NRA and gun owners kept pointing out that just about every bullet ever made fit the definition which the anti-gun crowd was pushing.

Then they rolled over and played dead when it came to the real armor piercing bullets.

Mark - please, next time remember to give the state where this occurred. Since Roanoke Valley is mentioned in the body of the article, I assume it may be in Virginia.

It would be appreciated.

Never mind - I see you put it in the headline. Thank you for doing that.

My bad I missed it.
