Its the local control that is the problem. Some parts of the country would deport everyone. but in some places in the southewest and in scattered counties around the country — there would be counties that didn’t deport anyone.
These would concentrate illegals from other parts of the USA moving toward legalization.
Worse these counties would become gateway counties into the USA from abroad because there would be some that would wave through everyone from abroad.
The result would be to blow a hole in the US border system and rapidly convert places like texas and florida over to the democratic party
That’s why chuck schumer—the most partisan democrat had nice things to say about newt’s immigration plan.
Not "trying" anything, just asking a hypothetical question of another GOP contender with inconsistent statements and/or past policies on illegal immigration.
