The aftermath was a mess and Bush was nothing to be proud of.

The aftermath for them was a mess. We did fine out of it. Apart from wear-and-tear on equipment and troop casualties, we broke even financially on Desert Storm, thanks to hard-nosed negotiations conducted by Jim Baker over allied financial contributions. Iraqi Freedom has cost us $1T and counting. It has also cost the GOP some serious political capital. While the Iraqi Freedom was cheap in relation to previous wars as a % of GDP and in terms of troop casualties, it was no Desert Storm.

Iraq war ends with a $4 trillion IOU
Veterans’ health care costs to rise sharply over the next 40 years

The nine-year-old Iraq war came to an official end on Thursday, but paying for it will continue for decades until U.S. taxpayers have shelled out an estimated $4 trillion, over a 50-year period, that comes to $80 billion annually.

My Children's Children get to pay for this failure. And too many people here are itching to borrow money form China to keep the failed foreign policy alive!
