The Corruption of America
Stansberry Investment ^ | December 2011 | Porter Stansberry

Posted on 12/24/2011 3:28:46 AM PST by lowbuck

"This bankrupt belief has taken complete control of our government, educational system, medical industry, and our corporations. And unless we demand better from each other and our political leaders, our society is doomed to collapse under the crushing weight of the Corruption of America.

It's time we got back to our traditions as Americans and started doing more to take care of our families, communities, and ourselves."

This is a small outtake of a very long article. If you have 15 minutes go and read this as the author raises some very good points about things that are leading to the decline of America.

Enjoy and Merry Christmas to all.

None of it is news. We have all seen it and talked about it for years. The problem is, everyone believed that good conquers evil, but they didn’t try to conquer it themselves.
Ask anyone who works for an unethical or corrupt business or boss if they would quit on principle. Few would. Especially if they have families to feed.
How many people would walk away from a cushy government job that is next to impossible to be fired from even though obscenely corrupt things are going on all around them?
How many corrupt politicians have been elected to the same offices over and over and over even though the extent of their corruption is legendary?
Until any of these questions, among various obvious others, is answered resoundingly with action to stop it in its tracks, we will continue this until there is nothing left to fight for. It will all be gone. We have lost our nerve and our spirit. Beaten into submission.
Waiting for G-d to overcome the evil while refusing to help is the epitome of copouts.

“But I also believe that... sooner or later... Americans will make the right choices and put our country back on sound footing.”

Only the ones who love and remember America will do that. The rest are pretty much a part of the problem

From the article:

“What gives me confidence for the future? Gun sales, for one thing. U.S. citizens legally own around 270 million firearms – about 88 guns per 100 citizens (including children) today.”

“That's a hard population to police without its consent. “

How did we get to this point?

Answer: Socialist-entitlement K-12 schooling.

It only took one to three generations of citizens in modern socialist-entitlement schooling to produce Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Answer: Godless secularism

While our nation's first modern socialist schools forced a lukewarm and generic Protestantism on the compulsory attendance children, by the turn of the last century the socialist schools were secular ( with an occasion nod to God). By the 1960s the socialist schools were utterly godless in their worldview.

Solution: ( To some of the ills laid out by the author)

Shut down the socialist and godless schools. Work to see that every child in this nation has access to a private education ( not necessarily a “school”) that upholds Judeo Christian values and our nation's founding principles.

Children who attend godless schools must think and reason godless just to cooperate in the classroom. How could it be otherwise?

Children who attend socialist-entitlement schools risk learning to be comfortable with having government take money from their neighbor. Well...If a powerful government can give them tuition-free school, why not lots of “free” stuff?

The problem is MUCH deeper than most of us who acknowledge it. I know many retired conservatives on Social Security who just get this blank look when you ask them what their plan is when the SS checks stop coming.

You must live in a large city. I have been concerned for years, and preparing, but preparations for the unknown may be prove unworkable when TSHTF. At least I can draw a bit of comfort in, I tried.

Every time I pass by the AARP office in the mall, I get an interesting feeling.

Our national corruption is moral and the solution is to understand and obey the Ten Commandments. At the root of economic and political decline is the idea that we each can live to some extent at the expense of others. This is coveting and we use government to sanitize and legalize the theft. But God is not mocked. He understands coveting when He sees it. He cannot reward or bless coveting and theft, not to mention lies. The economic lie in this case is that we will all be better off if we live, not by providing each for our own needs, but that we live at the expense of everyone else.

This is the siren call of socialism. But God does not give any Christian the authority to take from others what he should provide for himself. This must be crystal clear to anyone who reads any part of the Bible. The Apostle Paul even elaborated at what these Commandments mean for Christians: 2 Thessalonians 3:10 he said that if a person will not work, they cannot demand that others to provide food for them. Elsewhere, he said that a person who will not provide for the needs of his own family is worse than a non-believer, by which he means that his actions deny the faith that he claims to hold.

Our present monetary system is built on the Keynesian lie that printing money creates wealth. Keynses put forth his theory because he thought that people could be prosperous if only there was no limit to the amount available for them to borrow. We have borrowed our entire annual income and anyone who is honest can see that it takes us right to a climax of debt, where we borrow so much that it becomes impossible to ever repay it.

We also borrow this money so we can go to war at a whim, like when we don’t like some dictator like Ka-daffy in Libya.

We have come to expect that we can induce the world to use our dollar and then we can inflate it in order to steal the wealth of all holders of our money, and we can use the wealth we stole to fund welfare benefits for anyone living here. As economist Herbert Stein once quipped, something that cannot go on forever, won’t. (This became known as Stein’s Law).

And so here we are. We have arrived to the point in the event-line where we can now see on the horizon the Stein Moment. The moment when the way we have decided to live our economic lives literally cannot continue. Yet, we vote to continue rushing towards the Stein Limit. Are we crazy? Or are we just so morally compromised that we cannot image what life would be like if we ever lived within our means?

The late Czech President Vaclav Havel wrote about the moral corruption that comes with socialism. It first permeates the lives and the very beings of those who advocate it and defend it. This corruption seeps down to through the layers of people who have government jobs and must implement and enforce its edicts. And finally, it seeps into the moral character of the people who must be crushed by it. He wrote:

“The post-totalitarian system touches people at every step, but it does so with its ideological gloves on. This is why life in the system is so thoroughly permeated with hypocrisy and lies: government by bureaucracy is called popular government; the working class is enslaved in the name of the working class; the complete degradation of the individual is presented as his ultimate liberation; depriving people of information is called making it available; the use of power to manipulate is called the public control of power, and the arbitrary abuse of power is called observing the legal code; the repression of culture is called its development; the expansion of imperial influence is presented as support for the oppressed; the lack of free expression becomes the highest form of freedom; farcical elections become the highest form of democracy; banning independent thought becomes the most scientific of world views; military occupation becomes fraternal assistance. Because the regime is captive to its own lies, it must falsify everything. It falsifies the past. It falsifies the present, and it falsifies the future. It falsifies statistics. It pretends not to possess an omnipotent and unprincipled police apparatus. It pretends to respect human rights. It pretends to persecute no one. It pretends to fear nothing. It pretends to pretend nothing.”

from
Excerpts
The Power of the Powerless, pp. 29-31
http://faculty.tnstate.edu/tcorse/h120/Havel.htm

We accepted socialism because we were told it was a better, more scientific, more fair way to help the poor. Yet even as God protects property by including it in two of the Ten Commandments, He also tells of the obligation to be generous to those in need. We have avoided having a necessary national discussion: who is indigent and deserves our charity and who is not and must be required to not only provide for his own needs, but to also help others.

But too many people don’t have faith in their fellow man, that the needs of the poor will be properly taken care of. It is easier to just say, we will levy a tax and set up a government agency to oversee and administer distribution of aid to the poor. Never mind how this disconnects the recipient of the aid from the person from whom it is taken. Never mind that it is funded by coercion and compulsion. Never mind that the money must be taken by using the implied thread of deadly force. Never mind that it fosters the attitude of entitlement. Never mind that the system cannot even ask that the recipient say thank you to those who worked to fund it. Never mind that if a recipient needs more they cannot get it and a recipient who really doesn’t need it cannot be given less. Never mind how it destroys the family and our inner cities. Never mind how many government workers it must employ to oversee. Never mind how many lives it destroys. Never mind because we are told it is far more fair than when private charities looked after the needs of the poor.

And later we accepted socialism to pay for our own retirement! We are shocked that the deal turned out to be far less generous than when it was first proposed. But we have allowed so many people to become dependent upon it that we cannot afford to change it.

The only answer is to return to honesty and to stop coveting the wealth of others, and to stop trying to live at their expense. The consequences of doing the right thing will not be pleasant in the short run, but it will help put the brakes on our rush over the cliff of the Stein Limit. What cannot go on forever, won’t. One way or the other.

Yes on both counts. SS and retired military, and it is why I still work! At least I pay for part of the load I place on the American worker.

Waiting for G-d to overcome the evil while refusing to help is the epitome of copouts.

And there is the disconnect.
All of the things you listed above have come to pass because too many people have left G-d out of their lives. The secularists have won. The war is over. Those who say they believe in a Creator are now content to say, "Let G-d do it. I have a family to feed." So very sad how they have lost their faith.

Excellent post. I liked this tidbit from Havel;

"...the expansion of imperial influence is presented as support for the oppressed..."

That is the cornerstone of Obama's regime. He and his minions will do anything to stay in power and keep the bus rolling on. They must be stopped at all costs.

It is also the cornerstone of compassionate conservatism of the neo-cons and the cornerstone of harmonization of the advocates of globalism and 'free trade'.

They will have an even greater “blank look” if you ask them what will they do when their Social Security checks stop coming AND their life insurance annuities stop because their life insurance company filed bankruptcy?
