Scott Walker details $123.2 million in budget cuts

The University of Wisconsin System will have to cut an additional $46.1 million over six months, atop a previously approved $250 million two-year reduction, under a detailed budget-balancing plan Gov. Scott Walker's administration released Friday.

The new cut to UW was part of $123.2 million in additional reductions ordered to be made across state government. The amount in cuts was approved under the budget passed in June but not specified until Friday.

Walker's Department of Administration ordered agencies to make the cuts without layoffs, if possible.

Thing is - I suspect voters in WI are just dumb enough to fall right in to this crap. I guess they were happy with a state government going bankrupt. I say let them have their RAT-party. Let the Dems actually bankrupt the state, not be able to pay ANY of those inflated union benefits and kickbacks, and see who they point fingers at.

Of course, we know they will do as Dems do everywhere - they will point fingers back at the one man/Governor who was actually DOING SOMETHING to prevent the state from going bankrupt.

If you aren't going to layoff government employees then I'm not sure there is any real accomplishment with these cuts. When are Republicans and Conservatives alike going to figure out that “cutting the size of government” means taxpayer funded government workers must be sent home for good. They will eventually get a job in the private sector where their salary and benefits will be based on the value they provide for the company that employs them. They will also eventually STOP VOTING FOR DEMOCRATS once they realize they are now PAYING for government rather than making a living off of it.

You make a great point, precisionshootist. But, we are not only paying for our state government but the federal one too.
I would love to see a pie chart with the cost of the federal government along side SS, medicare and Medicaid. I think we would all see what department really costs the most and it wouldn't be medicare.
Anyone know where I could find a pie chart that includes the cost of running the federal government?
