Here is some more data regarding the mid-continent fault system.

The culprit is NOT the New Madrid (although it figures prominently in the equation). The true culprit seems to be the Gulf of Mexico tectonic plate. When IT moves, other things tend to move too...including a zone of faults going from there to Canada west of the Appalachians and a major fault zone cutting over to South Carolina.

IMHO we do not need to fear these things; we must pray for God’s intercession as we make room for him in our hearts. He has the power to heal the earth and/or to mitigate the instabilities. He will take care of his flock. But He expects us to exercise good judgement. You know what they say... Trust in God a lot, but tie up your horse! Be prepared. May the blessings of Christmas be with you this day and every day in this next year.
