Statement by the President and First Lady on Kwanzaa (Warning: Barfus Maximus)
The White House ^ | 12/26/11 | The White House

Posted on 12/26/2011 10:23:30 PM PST by Nachum

Michelle and I send our warmest wishes to all those celebrating Kwanzaa this holiday season. Today marks the beginning of the week-long celebration honoring African American heritage and culture through the seven principles of Kwanzaa -- unity, self determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.

We celebrate Kwanzaa at a time when many African Americans and all Americans reflect on our many blessings and memories over the past year and our aspirations for the year to come. And even as there is much to be thankful for, we know that there are still too many Americans going through enormous challenges and trying to make ends meet. But we also know that in the spirit of unity, or Umoja, we can overcome those challenges together.

As families across America and around the world light the red, black, and green candles of the Kinara this week, our family sends our well wishes and blessings for a happy and healthy new year.

“honoring African American heritage and culture through the seven principles of Kwanzaa — unity, self determination, collective work and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.”

Are ANY of these “African American” traits? I’m sure they apply to some (as they’d apply to other “races” as well), but who impulsively associates these words with “African Americans”?

Kwanzaa is racist: One more way to divide America by color and race.

A made-up ‘holiday’ celebrating socialism and collectivism. Oh, goodie, pass the pie and the bong.

Like many professional "black" racists (Jeremiah Wright, Adam Clayton Powell, etc.), Karenga looks to be mostly white.

In my Post Office there is a poster advertising stamps for Christmas (with madonna & child), Kwanzaa, and Eid (Islamic). Ah...the perversity of diversity.

Presidential proclamations about Kwanzaa really don’t bother me, whether done by President Bush or Obama. We don’t celebrate Kwanzaa and I don’t know anyone who seriously does (not that I have asked anyone), but even though it is a pretty suspect holiday, if Americans celebrate it I think it is not inappropriate for the President to make statement about it. There are plenty of other things to criticize Obama about.

‘Twas the night before Kwanzaa
And all through the ‘hood,
Maulana Karenga was up to no good.

He’d tortured a woman and spent time in jail.
He needed a new scam that just wouldn’t fail.
(”So what if I stuck some chick’s toe in a vice?
Nobody said revolution was nice!”)

The Sixties were over. Now what would he do?
Why, he went back to school — so that’s “Dr.” to you!
He once ordered shootouts at UCLA
Now he teaches Black Studies just miles away.

Then to top it all off, the good Doctor’s new plan
Was to get rid of Christmas and piss off The Man.

Karenga invented a fake holiday.
He called the thing Kwanza. “Hey, what’s that you say?

“You don’t get what’s ‘black’ about Maoist baloney?
You say that my festival’s totally phony?

“Who cares if corn isn’t an African crop?
Who cares if our harvest’s a month or two off?
Who cares if Swahili’s not our mother tongue?
A lie for The Cause never hurt anyone!

“Umoja! Ujima! Kujichagulia, too!
Collectivist crap never sounded so cool!
Those guilty white liberals — easy to fool.
Your kids will now celebrate Kwanzaa in school!”

And we heard him exclaim as he drove out of sight:
“Happy Kwanzaa to all, except if you’re white!”

Thanks for putting the facts behind the SLA. The whole intent with these groups was to initiate a race war in the United States. This was during the Cold War and the Soviets were targeting the race angle to set off a civil war which would collapse the United States and our efforts against them. It was the strategy of Kruschev who declared, "We will bury you" (in Russian, "Мы вас похороним!" Their effort was to sink the USA from within. And we know that Soviet agents were working inside our government to make that happen. Deja Vu, isn't it?
