Ping!!!

Now will Congress wise up and repeal that "Cornhusker kickback" - Nelson's fetid legacy - along with ALL of Obamacare?

The Democrats have nobody. What are they going to do, convince Bob Kerrey to move back to Nebraska and run?

ND and NE are ours. We need to net two additional seats to have 51 Senators on January 3, 2013; I think we’re on our way to 54-56 Senators.

Oh, and go Santorum!

Bahney Fwanks is opting out too. Looks like a trend. A very welcome trend.

Too bad the idiot RINOs don’t get the message as well.

My guess is the dems will run Scott Kleeg. He had run against Adrian Peterson for the House seat a few years back. He’s a young, good-looking, pro-military (grew up in the military), socially liberal guy.

Seems like it always comes down to whether the rest of the state can make up for the Omaha vote (and Lincoln, somewhat).

I’m glad if Nelson isn’t running. I don’t even want to see ads showing his face and claiming he’s done great things. Everybody in our family knows if we’re watching the weather and an ad like that comes up, we need to mute the TV just to keep from getting sick.

His private polling must show there’s not a chance in Hades he’d get re-elected.

>> OK, so that makes our pickup of the Nebraska Senate seat official. Whoever wins the GOP nomination will win the Nebraska seat and form part of the emerging GOP Senate majority. There’s no need to “settle” here. <<

You're probably right, but remember, that's what we thought about this very same seat when Senator Bob Kerrey retired. The GOP assumed they'd win it by default but then they were blindsided when the RATs ran former Nebraska Gov. Ben Nelson and outspent them considerably. RATs do a lot better than the GOP when it comes to scoring upset Senate victories in states heavily favored for the other party.

So, don't count your chickens before they hatch.

I agree Nebraska is solidly conservative and we shouldn't have to settle on a squishy Republican, but the pro-RINO crowd on FR will always claim so-and-so RINO is "the best we can get" and "the ONLY electable candidate", no matter what the state's ideological leanings are. Those useful idiot pro-RINO "conservatives" even saddled us with Lisa Murkowski in Alaska.

Yeah, I thought of Kleeg (but had forgotten his name). Has he been in the public eye since losing in 2006? I don’t think he has run for anything else since then, and it will be difficult for a Democrat in NE with no electoral history to beat a statewide officeholder such as Stenberg or Bruning (or even a congressman such as Fortenberry).

His political career ended the moment he voted for Obozocare.

When Kerrey retired in 2000, the Dems had a recent governor ready to run (Ben Nelson, who was term-limited in 1998); they have no such candidate this time around. The only Dem governors of NE during the past 40 years have been soon-to-be-ex-Senator Nelson, ex-Senator Kerrey, and late ex-Senator Exon.

I hope the B@#T@RD has trouble sleeping for the rest of his natural life,

He would have to possess a conscience for that to happen. I am extremely dubious.

and is seated in the smoking section for his eternal one.

A much more likely scenario, along with "Judas" Sestak.

There was some talk that our governor Dave Heineman will run. He is very popular; he beat Ne Football coach Tom Osborne. The only problem we could run into is cheating. Unions and double/triple/dead voting. We have a black x councilman who thinks he's Jesse Jackson II. He's on local tv calling white people nasty names; including women white b-—hes. No one else could get away with it. He has a call in show & it someone gets the better of him he gives out there name and phone number on air. He's so full of hate I think he's satans main man.
