The correct approach to this is the one in use for a very long time in America ~ registration by party and a closed primary system.

Asking for a loyalty oath for the voters is total BS. I'd rather ride the leadership of the party out of town on a rail ~ after, of course, tarring and feathering them.

What you'll never see is the Republican party leadership pledging to be loyal to the voters!
