From $2,000 dress to $1,000 skirt, Michelle Obama's lavish Hawaii wardrobe revealed

Complete title: Well what else would one wear on a $4m break? From $2,000 dress to $1,000 skirt, Michelle Obama's lavish Hawaii wardrobe revealed

Michelle Obama successfully managed to rile U.S. taxpayers with her lavish $4m family jaunt to Hawaii this Christmas.

But it seems her expensive taste has not stopped there, as her vacation wardrobe has proved to be equally lavish.

Though the First Lady has only been spotted on a couple of occasions since arriving in Kailua, Oahu, some sartorial analysis of her fashion choices has revealed that her outfits have been consistently high-end.

A classic example, as spotted by the blog Naked DC, was the seemingly simple sundress she chose for a church service at the Kaneohe Bay Marine Base on Christmas Day.

The white frock with red and yellow stripes was certainly pretty and occasion-appropriate, but cheap, it most certainly was not.

A design by French-born, U.S.-based designer Sophie Theallet, who is a favourite with fashion insiders, it would have set Mrs Obama back almost $2,000 when she bought it in 2009.

More recent creations by Theallet sell for even higher figures, a mark-up likely triggered by demand following the First Lady's endorsement of the label.

Can't post the photos in the article due to Getty and AP copyright restrictions.

They show the First Moo Moo in two outfits. One is the pricy sun dress mentioned in the article. It features a red and white boob belt reining in a white flour sack that tastefully accentuates the Royal Caboose. The second is a green print dress, blue blouse, and yellow sleeved vest, that together can best be described as Contemporary Cabbage Patch.

As usual, she is a sight to behold ...

Anyone else remember the ration of excrement Nancy Reagan used to get from the American MSM about her wardrobe?

“it would have set Mrs Obama back almost $2,000 when she bought it in 2009”

...BZZZZ! WRONG! Set American taxpayers back $2,000. Tries to sell the idea that Madam Fatass is opening her own purse.

Sarah Palin caught more than a load of flak about her wardrobe, too .... and she was just running for office.

IMO, I think all the coverage of the Hawaii trip are really starting to ‘tick’ people off.

For all the money she spends on clothes, you would think she could find something NICE, although the white dress is nicer than most of her outfits. She seems to stay far away from anything tasteful - no class, no elegance.

But I notice nobody from the MSM cares about the same things when it comes to Moochelle. Go figger.

I’m guessing the price is due to the amount of fabric required...

Mr O didn’t even know if his credit card still worked last week when he was in a book store, and he never seems to have any cash either. That tells us how often they pick up
the tab for anything themselves.

Their home is Chicago. Hope the girls are enjoying their “no friends” years. What a shame. Couple of very selfish parents.

Believe that’s just a red belly belt and not a red and white boob belt.

Otherwise your observations are spot on.

(Shame to have an emperor with no clothes accompanied by an empress with such extremely poor taste in hers.)

I remember the national scandal that was talked about endlessly by the lame stream media when she ordered new china to replace the old, mis-matched patterns for the WH dining room. Since I never watch the news or daily talk shows, can anyone tell me if there’s been any outrage voiced about Moochie’s wardrobe or their $4 Mil Hawaiian vacation?

FWIW, I don’t give a rat’s hairy hind end about how she looks. But I find her hypocrisy breathtaking, and I darn well would like to know how they’re affording all this stuff. And if they’re violating any ethics regs and/or tax laws while acquiring it.
