Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- One man is dead after an attempted robbery at a Cash America SuperPawn in the Centennial Hills area on Wednesday morning.

Sources say that a man entered the store, near North Durango Drive and Elkhorn Road, with a gun at about 9:30 a.m.

One employee fired a gun in a confrontation with the would-be robber. Police were called to the scene, where they discovered a black adult male dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities have not released the identity of the employee or the suspect who was shot. Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.

SuperPawn released a statement following the incident.

"At SuperPawn, our first concern is for the safety of our customers and coworkers," a company spokesperson said. "Currently, we are fully cooperating with authorities to sort through the details of this unfortunate incident."

Action News will update this story as more information becomes available.

Doesn’t sound like an “unfortunate incident” to me.

I cannot imagine anywhere but a police station that you are less likely to survive pulling a gun than a LV pawnshop!!

Reminds me of a vignette in The American Rifleman some years ago, in their "The Armed Citizen" feature, about a guy who broke into a hunting lodge where a group of sheriff's deputies where staying for a weekend hunting outing. All I could think of was "Ready Right, Ready Left, Ready on the firing line! The range is no longer clear, lock and load one twenty round magazine. Fire at will."

We have a handy Glock 40 for such random acts of kindness.

Cash America sells a boat load of “out of pawn” firearms every week on one of the major internet gun auction web-sites. I'm sure pretty much all their employees are familiar with guns. Score one for the good guys.

A great video for names. The boss at Super Pawn is Tony Twist. The girl reporter is Rikki Cheese.

According to the video, it is against company policy for employees to be armed. Hopefully they’ll let this slide and reconsider the policy....

I don't own a gun. I'm afraid to. But I'm glad so many Freepers do. I'm a beneficiary of their cover.
