STERLING – News of a possible endorsement from U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin appears to be having a big impact in the 17th Congressional District race.

State Sen. Dave Koehler, D-Peoria, who left the race this month after earlier announcing his candidacy, said he did so largely because Durbin, a Democrat, called to tell him that he would endorse Cheri Bustos, an East Moline alderwoman.

The district includes Whiteside County. The candidates are vying to replace Rep. Bobby Schilling, R-Colona, who is running for a second term.

Koehler said Wednesday that he was disappointed with Durbin’s decision.

“I felt we had momentum. We were in the lead in fundraising,” he said. “He [Durbin] asked me to step out of the race and run for state Senate seat. I had to make a very quick decision. There were only a few days left to gather signatures for my Senate seat.”

Koehler said he called Durbin back with his answer – he would withdraw. Koehler said it would be hard to overcome Durbin’s endorsement of an opponent...

There is more to this story than what is here...this may be perceived as being very much like Blago's fiasco...only Durbin has been attempting to control who gets the US House seat...any Illinois residents should write letters to the editors of major papers in Illinois asking about the similarities...Gaulrapp was also asked to leave the race and has refused...from what I have heard this really stinks and Durbin should suffer the consequences of taking away our freedom to choose our own candidates.

There needs to be a TEAD movement:

Taxed Enough Already Democrats - running in the DEM primaries!

That would make some Marxist heads explode - Dingy Harry - Nancy Pelosi and the Durbins who believe they are rulers not representatives of the people.

I would think an endorsement by Turban Durbin would be the kiss of death. But it’s a crazed State.

If you live in Cook County or even Illinios, how dare you even think you have any political rights!

Just pay your taxes and follow your marching orders from the RAT Party.

*** Sooooo, the Dick Durbin is picking who runs for what in Illinois!! Hmmmmmmmm, this is NO way to run a republic. ***

What republic? This is about my dear ILL-ear-noise where everything is controlled by The Combine. This article is just about the Rat Wing of The Combine, but its the same for republican wing of The Combine.

From Jan 21, 2000 to Jan 21 2008, the little fat slimy guy in DC, Karl Rove, was calling the shots as to which IL GOP RINO would run for office in IL. Rove did this through his "good friend" in the IL GOP, 'KJ' (now a convicted felon who worked w/Blago on a Bond Scam).

'KJ' did such a good job of pleasing Rove with his RINO picks that 'KJ' was rewarded by Rove picking him to be the Treasurer of the 2004 GOP Convention. Which was like making Willie Sutton head of all US Federal Reserve Banks and John Dillinger a Bank Examiner.

So this is just SOP for IL politics. Nothing new at all. And the ONLY ONE trying bust these maggots is US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald (yes him). 'Fitz' is the best US Attorney Chicago (Northern Dist of IL) ever had. And I mean 'ever'.
(Fitz makes 'crime buster' Rudy look like a 1st year law clerk)

As a member of The Combine once said:
"When we're in, we're in. And when they're in, we're in."
