Government papers from 1979, made public for the first time by the National Archives, suggest she kept a very close eye on the costs of furnishing her official residence.

It’s nice to see that real conservatives existed in recent history. Elected royalty disgust me.

Wonder what kind of hatchet job is the new movie about Lady Thatcher, with that American yutz, Meryl Streep, playing the lead role.

Indeed. And it was done, it seems, out of simple conviction and belief, rather than an urge to spin one’s supposed and much-vaunted ‘principles’ out through the media for electoral effect.

No publicity: it just emerges through archive release 20+ years after the Lady (and I use the capital quite deliberately) has left office.
