The Blaze ^ | December 29th | Mike Opelka

Posted on 12/30/2011 6:39:57 AM PST by Halfmanhalfamazing

The potential for a third party presidential run from billionaire developer and reality TV star Donald Trump may be closer to becoming a reality show of its own.

The Blaze received a copy of a confidential email sent out late Thursday afternoon from a Florida Tea Party leader and personal friend of Trump. The email requested assistance in building a team in Texas to make certain that, if Trump chooses to run, his name would be on the ballot.

The email included:

“Perot was just a sideshow.”

That’s not how I remember it. The lib media pushed Clinton, and Perot had a personal vendetta against Bush and peeled off enough votes to give Clinton the victory. BC didn’t even need close to 50% of the votes to win....Third Party candidates give Dems victories. Most people are conservative/libertarian leaning. Dems need third party candidates to win.

LOL. I like the way you put it.

Of course Trump will never run.

For starter’s, he would never entrust his business empire to his children or to a consortium of lawyers. Trump is a hand’s-on guy and the center of his own universe.

Obama indeed has about 45% of the vote locked up. Now there is the potential for the remaining vote to be carved up among Romney, Trump, Paul and Johnson. A progressive’s dream.

Yes, but what if he thinks it will increase his name brand to the point of winning the presidency? Isn’t that the question?

You really truly believe it will make any difference? I think it's more likely the world ends in 2012 anyway.

You’re right, Trump will not run as a 3rd party candidate.

But Ron Paul will. (Has Racist Ron EVER promised he wouldn’t?)

Trump will only get enough support to guarantee an Obama win. He wouldn't even get a fraction of the support that Ross Perot got.

I don't like Romney; he was my Gov. for one term, but I'll vote for him in a heartbeat, if it's a choice between him and Obama. If we can get a more conservative Congress, it would be a win, all around.

Trump must be in need of Soros cash. That’s the only explanation I can think of.

If you put a gun to my head I’ll vote for Obama before Trump. Voting for Trump is like giving the country the finger.

This is exactly how husseins mini-me Chicago bud and Axelrod “hope and change” test subject Gov “Coupe” Deval Patrick won a second term in here in MA with less than 50% of the vote.

Great.....

It would have to be Trump over Romney for me.

You're another fan of the Kelo decision like Trump, apparently.

Exactly right. Baker didn't run a great campaign--granted--but Tim Cahill was the kicker.

Anyone pushing Trump as a better alternative to Romney will have to make the conservative argument. And as someone who has looked into Trumps political background, I can tell you, you're gonna have a really tough sell. The conservative track record is non-existent. He's all over the map politically. His record is all talk. His financial support mostly goes to what would be considered an enemies list of conservatism. Anyone predicting what a president Trump would do is just projecting their hopes onto a blank canvas.

A Trump presidential run would be no different than a Ron Paul campaign. A small group of zealous fringers trying to convince the sane world their candidate isn't a misguided jackass.

Ron Paul always runs, and you're right, he has not promised that he won't.

Given his advanced age, I am left to ponder whether he will run this time, for the following reasons:

1. If he's seen as the reason for obama's reelection, his son Rand Paul will pay the price in 2016 when he mounts his own run.

2. Gary Johnson has already announced for the Libertarian Party. Will they agree to run together?
