Heller Attorneys Awarded $1.1M in Fees, One-Third of Their Request

A federal judge in Washington has awarded attorneys who represented Dick Heller in the landmark Supreme Court case that recognized an individual right to posses arms just over $1.1 million in fees — about one-third of what they had requested.

I wonder if the lawyers would have gotten more of their fee request if instead of representing a conservative cause they represented a liberal cause.

That’s plenty.

Attorneys have priced themselves out of the reach of all but corporations and it is WRONG

“Sensitive to the fact that the fees in this case will be paid by the taxpayers, this Court is left with the difficult task of closely scrutinizing plaintiff’s fee petition to determine what is fair, reasonable, and just compensation for the legal services of plaintiff’s attorneys,” Sullivan wrote.

Too bad that wasn't always the case and not just taxpayers (i.e. insureds, class members). Next step, pierce the veil of sovereign immunity.

Yep, especially when attorneys for the State act in bad faith in a blatant attempt to violate a citizen's Civil Rights.

Seems to me that the veil is already pierced, it will take Lawsuits from Citizens in that district to force the issue though.
