Cutting off their noses to spite their faces. This will crush their economy and throw most of the inhabitants out of work. A poor, unemployed Muslim is a Muslim with no options other than what his clerics tell him to do for a meager handout.
They would rather the people be poor, than risk cultural contamination from infidels.
