Rick Perry campaign plays blame game

With a revamped message and a significant TV presence here, Rick Perry is hoping to revive his disappointing presidential campaign with a surprise finish Tuesday.

But even as they hold out hope that Perry can find a way back into contention, some of his advisers have begun laying the groundwork to explain how the Texas governor bombed so dramatically in a race that he seemed to control for a brief period upon his entry in August.

Their explanations for the nosedive come against the backdrop of a campaign riven by an intense, behind-the-scenes power struggle that took place largely between a group of the governor’s longtime advisers and a new cadre of consultants brought on this fall. In the end, the outsiders won out — and ever since have marginalized Perry’s longtime chief strategist while crafting a new strategy in which the Texan has portrayed himself as a political outsider and culture warrior.

In a series of interviews with POLITICO, sources close to the campaign depict a dysfunctional operation that might be beyond saving because of what they describe as the political equivalent of malpractice by the previous regime.

“There has never been a more ineptly orchestrated, just unbelievably subpar campaign for president of the United States than this one,” said a senior Perry adviser.

These are the same ***holes that floated the idea that Perry made Cain mess with those women.

Cain was dumb enough to run with it.
How’d that all work out?

As much blatant racism that Cain was exposed to growing up, I’m sure we can FORGIVE Herman for reacting about a monstrous rock with the N word painted across it.

Next.

I don’t forgive him.
Perry was very complimentary of Cain, and Cain stabbed him at every turn, without reason or proof.

And now we are to believe that Perry’s campaign is the biggest train wreck in political history even as others have crashed in spectacular fashion.

Bah!

Perry is still drawing crowds on the campaign trail. Here’s the latest:

“Packed Perry event at Bloomers in Fort Dodge, crowd spilling out the room .”

I think Perry has no one to blame but himself. I was totally on board when he announced. But his bungling performances in the debates and his inability to address his conservative shortcomings in the face of criticism made me think he's not up the the challenge.

It's sad, but I would be willing to give him another look if he emerges as the only alternative to Romney.

Small venues, but he is out there meeting and greeting.

Not a vote has been cast, but Politico writes up this 4 page POS that says it’s over.

Agree. Perry deserved an apology for that.

Thank you. I am. I hope you have a very Happy New Year!!!! No matter what, this will be the year that we rid ourselves of Obama and no matter the nominee (except Romney), it will be better than the idiot we have in office. I just want to ensure that we pick the very best and IMHO it is Santorum. We will see very soon though.

“It’s stunning that people write Perry off but entertain idiots like Paul Pot.”

Yes, and it’s equally amazing to me that conservatives have willingly decided to ignore what they know about Newt Gingrich, and fall all over him. He was detested at FR a year ago (hello, Dede Scozzafava)? Sorry, but I’ll take Perry anyday.

And as for his early debate performances, let’s not forget that the probable reason for that was his back surgery and the fact that he was in considerable pain. Once he began to recover, his performances improved quite a bit.

We’ll be happy to keep him as a damn good Governor.

We in PA are happy that you in Texas are happy, now if Cinncy's wife would find another candidate be would all be happy.

Did I tell you the story about my camp?

I found this dead guy in the river back in Mar.
He wasn’t done in on the property, I didn’t own the property, the guy was a floater that had been whacked way up stream in the city.

Well, I called the cops and I told them to call me so I could unlock the gate when they arrived.

They called and I went up there, where I met 9 very angry black police officers.
That’s when I realized that someone had slapped a Barack Obama joker face “socialism is no joke” sticker on the gate.

Well, no amount of reason could sway those folks into understanding that I don’t own the property, no one on the property had committed a crime and that Barack Obama is a socialist. LOL

It all worked out, but it was truly scary

Happy New Year to you, too! I still like Michele Bachmann, myself, but it’s nice to see Rick S. having his day in the sun. Hope he can build on it.

Perry’s only role at this point is simply to siphon votes away from Rick Santorum, Michelle Bachmann and possibly even Newt Gingrich.

Aside from Romney, Perry is the only candidate with executive experience. He has never lost an election. He doesn't have a closet full of personal scandals. He has a solid record of conservative leadership. Is he perfect? No, but Perry is more conservative and has less baggage than Gingrich. He has bigger war chest than Santorum or Bachmann, both of whom he leads in an average of all the polls. Santorum isn't going anywhere after Iowa and Bachmann... Why is she even still in the race? Her campaign died months ago.

Perry-haters needn't worry though. Perry won't get the nomination. Conservatives are going to bicker and split their support amongst the handful of reasonably (though not perfectly) conservative candidates while trashing the others until one by one these candidates run out of money, run out of steam and drop out of the race. And then we'll be shell-shocked when Mitt Romney is the last guy standing and somehow pretend we didn't see it coming.

Running on his economic success as Governor of Texas, Perry could beat Obama. Sadly, it's unlikely he'll get the chance.

But if she has no votes, she has little or no endorsement power either. Perry should endorse someone before he sinks to that level of irrelevance.

NOW IS THE TIME TO COME TO THE AID OF YOUR COUNTRY......the quicker we unite around Gingrich, the quicker we end Willard's threat to conservatism. As Speaker, Gingrich led Republicans to magnificent successive victories:

* Four consecutive balanced budgets

* Over $400 billion of debt paid off

* Bipartisan welfare reform

* 11 million new jobs

* Unemployment falling to under 4%.
