My pet theory about the Mayan calendar ... the calendar maker was busy making up the calendar, and when he got to the year 2012 (our time, A.D.) the Spanish conquistadores came in, said to the calendar maker "It's time to roll" and put the calendar maker in a Catholic mission.

Makes sense to me.

I think its just the end of their calendar not the end of the world. The calendar starts over from what I understand.

An 12th century rabbi by the name of Rabbi Yehuda ben Shmuel nor Moses (he talked about the End of Days, in Hebrew “Acharit haYamim,” in the Torah).

His predictions were the following based on the status of Jerusalem and the Jubilees (50 year spans of time). This rabbi died in 1217.

1. Jerusalem would be occupied by the Turks for eight Jubilees. The Turks did hold Jerusalem from 1517 to 1917. The Ottoman Turks fought the Mameluks from 24AUG1516 to 20JAN1517 which started with the Turks invasion of Syria. What’s really interesting about that Turkey invaded Syria for a second time exactly 500 years later on 24AUG2016.

2. Jerusalem would become ownerless for one Jubilee. This happened from 1917 to 1967.

3. Jerusalem would be in the hands of Jews again in the 9th Jubilee. This occurred in 1967 until current time (2016). This 9th Jubilee period would be the leading up to the End Times. The date that started this lead up was 14SEP1966 on Rosh HaShana.

4. During the 10th Jubilee Jews would control Jerusalem and the End Times would begin. The date that began the End Times was 3OCT2016 (actually the evening of 2nd).
