Yeah, I don’t think of Zale’s as selling such unique products that any given one of them can be identified from a photo. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe they’re ALL unique.
I suspect the diamond had a laser etched serial number, one of the FB friends knew the guy was a jerk, knew of the Zales robbery and put 2 and 2 together.
I have a diamond with the GIA paperwork and my stone has an ID number within it. Not all diamonds have that. I wonder if anyone knows if putting an ID no in the diamonds is now a standard thing of is that done by GIA?
I have the GIA paperwork for my diamond, too. As an added aid to identifying it if stolen, the setting was custom designed and is rather unique.
IIRC the laser ID is optional and can be the diamond report or it can be a personal message, name etc.
