In my high school in the mid 1960’s, I hung out with a bunch of football nuts who had taken a liking to the wide-open ways of the new American Football League, of which Joe was Commissioner.

We called our club “The Joe Foss Fan Club,” and endured alot of harassment from the NFL types.

Awesome visit to the Hall of Heroes tonight, Ladies.

I knew Joe Foss through his second wife’s son, Dean Hall. Joe spoke at my banquets twice, and we spent some time together afterwards. He was the most down-to-earth person you could imagine, and had strong views about right and wrong. Joe Foss epitomized the Greatest Generation.

Makes me think about a time, years ago, I was the only car on the highway for many, many, miles. I had a feeling something had happened and I was the only one who didn’t know about it! Don’t like that feeling!
