NY’s quick-draw gun arrest

The Issue: The arrest of a Tennessee woman after she inadvertently brought a gun to the 9/11 Memorial.

The arrest of Meredith Graves highlights the absurd disconnect from prevailing national firearms policy that reigns in New York City (“Hold Your Fire,” Dec. 30).

The majority of states guarantee the right of law-abiding citizens to carry firearms for self-defense.

Graves mistakenly believed that New York would protect her basic rights but instead was met with a felony criminal complaint, thanks to our mayor and his neurotic fear of firearms.

Graves’ arrest is a disgrace, and the same can be said of our mayor and City Council, who perpetuate restrictive and worthless laws designed only to keep honest people unarmed.

It seems that the demoRats are a criminal organization that has given the street crooks armed robbery rights.

Never speak to a police officer unless you are reporting a crime.

Do not volunteer personal information.

If you carry concealed, keep it that way. Minimize any knowledge of your firearm among family/friends....you never know when a drunk friend/family member is going to blurt out you have a gun.

All those big cities back into the 1800s and before were run by machines that wanted to make sure the ordinary citizen had no way to defend himself against their tools and had to depend on the machine to protect them from crime (their tools). I read somewhere that Chicago is the last city whose machine can be traced in an uninterrupted fashion all the way back.

I know which states I can travel armed in and which I cant.

I do believe she should have had this information before leaving her home state.

that being said....NYC and to an even greater extent, NJ are by their actions guilty of defying the 2nd amendment to the US Constitution...and if we had a decent US Attorney General, there would be investigations and arrests of these criminals...one criminal I would arrest would be Mayor Bloomberg of NYC....he defecates on the Constitution, not just over the 2nd amendment, but the 1st and Lord knows how many other amendments. You cant put salt or trans-fats in the food you sell...thanks to Bloomberg.

my pre-written response to all things Bloomberg:

Bloomers is a Crony-capitalist, nebbish, poor little rich boy, self hating jew, tiny buttwipe of a man...the only reason he is probably not a fag (the jury is still out) is that he has the greatest aphrodisiac of all time, billions of dollars....he decries the 2nd amendment, but whines about how the enemy’s first amendment rights to worship are being usurped....even though Islam is NOT a religion but a murder cult.. © Vaquero 2010-2011

Another argument for OC.

The more people who see guns on the hips.of law abiding people, the more obvious to all this abomination will be.

She probably should contact as a first step.

John S. Chambers — a 2A lawyer in New York.

Though he looks like just a permit specialist.

Makes it easier to decide where to go on vacation. Have you seen the North Dakota Badlands?

If you carry concealed, keep it that way.

Unless there is a specific open=carry provision, most concealed permist require you to keep it concealed so nobody knows you have it. Mississippi demands it remain fully concealed despite also having a useless open carry law. The law says you can open carry without a permit, but courts have determined that even a minimal holster conceals at least part of the weapon and makes it "concealed", so it requires a carry permit which in turn demands that the weapon remain fully concealed...

Still some work to be done in instituting 2nd Amendment freedoms.

...thanks to our mayor and his neurotic fear of firearms.

Maybe that fear is caused by the recognition that some individuals NEED shootin', and he thinks that he might be one of them! < /sarc >

Add a Hypocrite to the list, Bloomie carries a gun even though he has a NYPD Division protecting his butt. Same goes for most of leftist politicians in NYC they all carry. What do you expect, the Kommisars should always be armed!
