Most people use Best Buy as a showroom to look at items, then go buy it online for a cheaper price. Same for most retailers of big ticket items.

You really can't beat NewEgg.com and similar online merchants for TVs, computer hardware, and especially connectors and adapters.

Online you can find exactly what you want and need. At Best Buy -- not so much.

I am willing to pay a little more to a retail store, but BB employees are useless. In the last 15 years I NEVER got help from a solitary employee and gradually stopped going.

If I want that service I can go to the wholesale club and get the same TV for less.

+++++++++++
And if you find it BB can’t compete on price.

Example: My dream 65” Panasonic VT30 plasma - $2820 shipped from Amazon with price matching and about $3240 from Best Buy carry home with sales tax (about $240). Best Internet price I have seen: $2640 including shipping.

Best Buy could be selling more items and at the same time be losing money.

It's not that we "shop" at Best Buy and the use the net to find the best price. We do it the other way around ~ we find the best price then order on-line for store delivery.

This has to hurt the bottom line for all the electronic and recorded media retail vendors.

DING! Winner. Spot-On. With the exception of food, prescription med's and some clothing items, we've been buying EVERYTHING online for over 10 years now.

Not only can you always find a better price, what better way to "starve the beast" of taxable revenue? I live in Illinois. Our income taxes just got jacked up 66%, gotta save money somewhere, so guess where that is? You bet - SALES TAX.

I can always find better electronics deals at NewEgg or other online resources, save on the sales tax and get free shipping. I've been using Best Worst Buy as nothing more than a place to put my hands on a product to decide if I like it or not, then buy online. Been doing that for at least a decade.

I do the same for shoes, clothes and even furniture. Always cheaper to buy online, save on the sales tax and get free (or minimal cost) shipping.

If for no other reason, folks should be doing it to deprive their states of sales tax to force their governments to shrink.
