"You may find it weird, and so may others. I won’t disagree that it seems a little weird. However... I think it took a lot of courage for them to do that. It must have been extremely painful but it shows me how much they valued the life of their son that passed away. It’s none of your business or anyone elses how they handled the death of their son. They did what they thought was right for them and their other children."

I agree with most of that, except this.

Nobody, I mean NOBODY would have know about this if Rick Santorum had not, himself, told the media about it.

Anyone can assign a value to it as he is a POTUS candidate now. They can decide if it's important or not, and whether it affects their vote.

RICK SANTORUM BROUGHT THIS INTO THE PUBLIC SQUARE.

So I guess if we lose a child at birth, we should just “shut-up” about it....yeah, sorry, my baby IS a part of my family..whether on Earth or in heaven.

Really? Private issues never come up? Tell it to Senator Jack Ryan. Look it up.

No, Rick Santorum did not bring this up. His wife wrote a book called “Letters to Gabriel” which described their grief and healing process. It was touching and helpful for those of us who lost children before birth and “gasp” mourned them under our own roof.

So what. Someone said the mother wrote a book about their baby. When I lost my daughter, many people told me to write a book because there were not that many years ago. It helps people realize they are not the only ones who have experienced the death of a child no matter the age. I pray you will never, ever know that feeling of severe loss. Some people on here may remember when my daughter died. I have lost a brother, both parents, and husband but not a one of them can compare to the terrible pain of knowing parents have outlived a child. I cried for ages due to that loss. I am ashamed of you for being a part of this site. In other words, get a life with some compassion in it!

“Letters to Gabriel” was written by Karen Santorum in 1998.

Creeps from the MEdia mining this book for dirt is hardly a case of Rick Santorum “bringing this (his child’s death) to the public square”

His wife wrote a book about the child; I expect the home funeral information was included in the book.
