Not at all. I’m not blind to the fact, though, that most men view women as an object of gratification & that most women, seeking acceptance & a relationship, quickly oblige by filling their bodies with drugs that carry tremendous side effects....all to please a man. Ridiculous. Then we wonder why girls are depressed, abusing drugs, and engaging in self-destructive behavior while the boys just carry on having fun. It’s all a big freaking lie. And people like you, who embrace it, just perpetuate the problem.

Here’s what really happened, and it has nothing to do with birth control: Context means everything, and a lack of understanding of the Torah causes much misunderstanding of its events.
God slew Onan because the man contemptuously refused to fulfill his familial responsibility under the Old Covenant. This particular practice is called levirate marriage, in which a dead man’s closest unmarried male relation (usually a younger brother, as in this case) married the widow to produce an heir for the dead man. This duty is spelled out in Deuteronomy 25:5-10 to preserve tribal inheritance rights (verse 6). Another, happier circumstance of levirate marriage is recorded in the book of Ruth, an event that eventually produced Israel’s greatest king, David (Ruth 4:17).
The assumptions you make are astounding. Did I ever once claim to take BCPs? No. Do I advocate BCPs? No. Neither do I support the use of IUDs. There ARE other ways of preventing sperm and ova from meeting.
As for girls buying into the male-dominated sexuality crap, you might, just perhaps, lead by example and teach boys to revere instead of objectify girls.
Just a thought. But perhaps it's easier for you to blame the availability of contraception, rather than advocate personal responsibility.

Again, it’s morally fine to space out children as long as there’s no attempt at actively blocking procreation. You just limit your sexual activity to naturally infertile periods. Plenty of Catholic couples do exactly that.
Well such husbands need to grow up. Frankly, with such selfish men around it’s not surprising women have gotten such a dim view of childbirth.
It appears to me (correct me if I’m wrong) - your problem isn’t Rick Santorum - so much as it is the catholic teaching.
Of course - you don’t like it that Rick actually believes in the teaching of the church he belongs to.
No one is forcing anyone to be a catholic.
While my husband and I have a large family - no one forced me to. I am not treated as a “breeding machine” - and the catholic teaching is vastly different than Islam.
While I disagree with many politicians on their PERSONAL opinions - I don’t require 100% with my personal beliefs in order for someone to get my vote.
Is it your position that a practicing, faithful catholic should not seek the presidency?

I don’t think that he proposes banning it, but that he is simply stating his personal attitude towards it. Honesty should be appreciated, even if we disagree with the opinion.

The problem with your reasoning is that the bible specifically said why God slew him. Why was he so significant that God “made an example of him,” well, that’s where your context matters. But what was his sin? The bible is specific.
It must be hard going through life with such a defunct moral compass. I feel sorry that you can’t differentiate between medicine & surgery for HEALING to promote life vs medicine & surgery used to prevent life.

Of course not. Being responsible means not having sex until you are married. Duh. See, you buy into the contraception lie. It dosen’t work. Most people who h ave abortions & most out of wedlock births are to women who are contracepting. Get with it.

I wear a Saint Dymphna medal (look her up), duly blessed by a local priest, and it gives me great comfort. I've spent many more peaceful and regenerating moments praying alone in Catholic chapels than in Protestant churches.
After watching and listening to Newt after his conversion to Catholicism, I thought perhaps it was worth a second look. But gauging from some responses on this thread, I'll stay simply and quite happily unaffiliated.
Long story short, Catholicism itself is probably ok, but some of her representatives are just as bigoted as fervently evangelical Protestants.
