Get Clean for Ron
The American Spectator ^ | January 3, 2012 | W. James Antle, III

Posted on 01/03/2012 7:14:35 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

The young Paulistas gathered to receive their marching orders. Get a haircut. Wear a tie. Be polite. Don't gratuitously annoy mainline Republicans. Leave the discussion of political philosophy to the candidate. Your job, they were instructed, is to win votes for Ron Paul.

That was the scene as described to me in New York City this summer. Since then, it has become standard operating procedure for the activists once dismissed as the "Ron Paul kids" during their long march through the GOP.

"No tats," one young Paul volunteer told the New York Times he was advised. No "fraternizing in the dorms, nothing like that." No scruffy beards, boozing or even impolitic tweets either. Don't do anything that will hurt the cause. Instead ask yourself, "What would Ron Paul do?"

In 1968, door-knocking hippies cut their hair and dressed in the wardrobe of the establishment in order to support Eugene McCarthy's antiwar candidacy for the Democratic nomination. Their slogan was "Get clean for Gene."

McCarthy didn't make it to the White House, but he did unseat a sitting president with a stronger-than-expected showing in New Hampshire. Paul has already moved into the top tier in Iowa and New Hampshire. Few will be surprised if he eclipses his 2008 tally of more than 1 million votes.

I believe a lot of Ron Paul’s support is cynical (follow the money). Young people "looking forward" to no jobs in the Obama depression, or working on degrees in areas where government money could fund a study, a program (their professors have sucked on this tit for decades) -- instead of being “wasted” to support the "evil" military and “misguided” war on drugs -- which also ties into what they've been taught in many institutions of higher education -- so many useless degrees and “green” thinkers believing that Ron Paul is the Rx for what ails the country. So they're leaving support for Barack “hope and change” Obama at the school house/no job market door and flocking to Ron Paul which has the sweetener of hurting those “evil-rich” conservatives who are destroying the planet and are ready to “bomb” the world.

The problem for them is -- they never will get the money; it always finds another home. With the debt and deficit ballooned out of sight, that money isn't heading in their direction. The naturally productive ones will eventually “grow up” and realize the truth about living in a safe, free market society but many will hang fast to the hope (libertarians for sure) that once the "war on drugs" and the "evil military complex” have their wings clipped, some of those trillions of “wasted” dollars will certainly flow to them. It won't and their lot will be worse. We have for too long been building “me-me-itis” generations, whose values and goals are nurtured and fanned by teachings of socialist professors spawned in the Sixties who have multiplied themselves with our youth.

So Ron Paul is their cup of tea. They’re only one step away from OWS (most likely have a foot in both camps already). If Ron Paul definitively said, "I will not run third Party," much of his support would evaporate today. Which is precisely why he has not ruled it out.

This is like a career criminal wearing a suit to a trial. You’re not fooled and still recognize what they are.

Yep! "But both parties are controlled by the same people. So, it doesn’t really matter who wins between Romney and Zero...Our only hope is a third-party candidate. I’m not saying a third-party candidate would win. I’m just saying that’s our only hope."

Don’t worry I have somewhat of a dynamite Plan B in my mind, if this Paul decides to go third party which will end up having more votes being siphoned away from Obama and than it would be retarding the votes for conservatives against Obama. It involves a little political intrigue so I am not going to give it out here on open forum, but believe me, if successful, it could have a considerable effect of eating deeply into the support of extreme leftists who might otherwise compromise and vote for Obama, but instead would park their votes with Paul. It is not the end of the world if Paul jumps the shark and runs independent. Make Lemonade!!

Ron Paul runs on the GOP ticket, he uses platforms like CPAC and uses the party to spout his views which are not republican nor conservative and therefore should never be allowed to run on the GOP ticket,.
Let him run on his own ticket, the ticket of liberal socially , foreign and make drugs legal, marry what you want and basically have anarchy.

. . . “green” thinkers believing that Ron Paul is the Rx for what ails the country.

If that's the case they have not studied up on the candidate they so zealously cut their hair for:

Unfortunately, decades of misguided federal action have helped lead to skyrocketing fuel prices, making it even more difficult for hardworking families to make ends meet.

Washington’s bureaucratic regulations, corporate subsidies, and excessive taxation have distorted the market and resulted in government bureaucrats picking winners and losers.

In fact, much of the “pain at the pump” Americans are now feeling is due to federal policies designed by environmental alarmists to punish traditional energy production – like oil, coal, and natural gas – in hopes of making energy sources they favor more “economical.”

Sadly, even with $4.00 a gallon gasoline, many are attempting to make our energy crisis even worse by working to impose job-destroying carbon taxes, or a “Cap and Tax” system.

As long as we allow federal regulations and bureaucratic red tape to get in the way of energy exploration, our country will never solve its energy crisis, and Americans will continue to pay the price in high costs.

Paulistas

Is it 'Paulistas', 'Paulbots', or 'Paultards'?

The intellectual exercise of making fun of someone's name is beyond my grasp.
Doesn't Paul say enough stupid stuff already?

Actually, that would be fourth party. There is already a new party, seemingly tied to Trump, laying the early groundwork to be on the November ballot.

I prefer “Paulestinians.” Given Paul’s views on the Middle East, it’s appropriate.

Yep, if I had no prospects of employment, was living in my mom’s basement, and spent more time playing video games and “hanging out” on Facebook than anything else, I suppose Ron Paul’s ravings would sound pretty good. Kinda like Abbey Hoffman and Jerry Rubin’s ravings did in the late 60s...

Being a young, idealistic, inexperienced, know-it-all dope hasn’t changed much in 40 years.
