2012 Iowa Caucus Live Thread
Iowa GOP ^ | 1.3.12 | Free Vulcan

Posted on 01/03/2012 8:08:24 AM PST by Free Vulcan

Live thread to cover today's GOP caucus. News, predictions, opinions, totals, and the like.

Will be heading out about 4 pm or so to get our site ready and do a final review with the precinct chairs. I expect it to be bigger than 2008 with very heavy turnout and we are preparing for that.

We are also ready for disruptions. They simply won't be tolerated. The state party sent us a memo saying if there's any trouble call the cops immediately. Anyone trying to cause problems is going to get a rude awakening.

My predictions of the outcome are a narrow field with about a 10 point spread for the top five with Bachmann far behind in single digits:

Santorum - 24 Romney - 22 Paul - 20 Perry - 17 Gingrich - 14 Bachmann - 4 The Rest - 1

Think things are still in flux and many won't decide till right to the wire, so I'm not terribly confident of any predictions.

Romney cannot win the nomination with only 25% of the vote. 75% of the voters will vote for anyone other than Romney. And so will their delegates.

For the umpteenth time, Romney will not be the GOP nominee.

I had great hopes that Michele working as a Tea Party supporting Congresswoman would make a difference since the 2010 midterms. Alas, that was not to be realized since she has been otherwise absorbed by this run for POTUS. I truly think this was a missed opportunity for Bachmann to make a real difference in the lives of Americans.

I like Rubio - he is a good man ... BUT BOTH his parents were NOT American Citizens when he was born ... thus he is NOT a Natural Born Citizen...

You are just plainly wrong - those who deny the truth of the matter scream racist as you do - because you cannot defend your position with rational thought ... you are just a moron

Iowa evangelicals supported Catholic Santorum, but I’m skeptical Southerners will.

Gingrich is in big trouble then.

Newt is done. Listening to him now. He looks and sounds defeated.

Also, Callista’s eyes are very sad.

They have seen the writing on the wall and it says:

SANTORUM

Yes, you're absolutely right. < 30,000 people in a nation of over 300 Million have spoken.

All Hail the Boy-Prince of the Cornfields

Newt is going to New Hampshire. Rick Perry is going to SC in the morning.

Newt is gonna go wherever Mitt goes with blood in his eyes and the nomination be damned. Thats my prediction.

That is not a big factor for a lot of women I know. They are more interested in his accomplishments in Congress, his intellect, and ability to explain his plans.

The infidelity is an issue between him and his family.

...Which is why I'm doubly glad I donated to him a couple of months ago to try to keep him alive. I've had it with the elitist media jerks and I've ***really*** had it with the militant gay groups and their tactics....

BINGO!.. It's about the FAGS, that is why ROMNEY has been pushed in our faces... There are a lot of lefty GOP operators... manipulating the system hidden in the shadows, lobbying for the homes, and Flip flopper is it, this time around... The PRO-Queer Candidate. On the last one, it was Guiliani and MaCaca...

Rubio is a Natural Born Citizen.
Were both his parents born in the US? Just askin’, ‘cause I don't know

If both his parents were naturalized citizens at the time of his birth, yes he would be. Unfortunately I don't believe this is so, and hence he is not. He is not eligible to serve as president, nor vice-president. He is my senator, but unfortunately he can not run for president. I really like him.

I’m not in the tank for Perry, but those here who keep insisting his financial support will disappear over 120,000 votes in Iowa don’t understand the nature of Texans, especially wealthy Texans, very well.

Reads like shilling for Romney from here.

Romney will win the republican nomination. And he has a very good chance of beating Obama. So if you don’t like Romney, fine. But don’t support him, and take 4 more years of Obama. It’s not who we want. It’s only who we can choose from.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2828094/posts?page=665#665

The reality is Mitt is the only republican (running) that can beat Obama in 2012. I wish there were alternatives, but the reality is, there isn’t.

“Perry may not win the nomination, which will be a sad thing for the party and the country, but he won’t give up.”

Doing the right thing for the party and dropping out is NOT giving up.

It’s helping us beat Willard! Period.

I agree Newt’s in it to take Romney out at this point, which is interesting because that is Perry’s sole goal too.

I think Newt should ignore NH. Have Romney, Huntsman and Paul battle it out there.

Concentrate on SC.
