Santorum undermined fellow conservatives in a really ignoble way, telling people a conservative can’t win.

That argument always sucks in a lot of conservatives. In 1952, many conservatives who should have known better backed Dwight Eisenhower, since the conventional wisdom was that Sen. Robert A. Taft (R-Ohio), the conservative leader, couldn't win. The same thing happened in 1976, when a number of Republican conservatives including Barry Goldwater stuck with President Ford over Ronald Reagan. And in 2004, the conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt backed Specter over Toomey because he, too was drinking that vintage coolade.

” I am very suspect of Santorum’s electability. He lost his last election by a landslide (18%)!!! “ yeah, in a heavy Democrat blue state in a Democrat year..

Didn’t Toomey, or was he not in support of the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t tell ? and ? he supported the repeal of the ban in the military of sodomy and bestiality ?
So ? those who bash Rick Santorum for endorsing Spector, how do they explain Toomey’s support for those things ?

YEP!!!! He sure did. Toomey has been a disaster for Pennsylvania. Instead of bashing Santorum for endorsing Arlen, perhaps they should be thanking Santorum for saving us from him at least for six years. We would not have gotten Alito or Roberts if not for Arlen. So as much as they hate him, he did do a few things right.

He lost PA because PA has been a Blue state forever.

The year he lost he lost because the GOP took it on the chin. We can thank GWB and his progressive policies for that.

Yes. “What is good for thee is good for me”.

It was heartbreaking at the time for Santorum, without regret or hesitation, to help scuttle the chances for a conservative like Toomey in the PA contest only to elevate liberal Arlen Specter. Santorum has bosses and he is indebted. Then, we had to suffer through watching Specter be the one to advance the Marxist’s case for Marxist healthcare, by both mouth and vote.

Now comes Santorum working his booty off from the ledge, on the conservative right, when what is clear as crystal is this man deals, but not to your hand when it doesn’t help the house, (the Establishment)!

“Fool me once, shame on you.......”

It strange isn't it ? they focus on Rick's mistake of endorsing Spector, but, have no explanation. they are strangely quiet in explaining what Toomey supported.
Unless ? they actually supported what Toomey supported, the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't tell... and the repeal of the ban on sodomy and bestiality in the military.

Just in case anyone forgot about Mr. Santorum's wonderful past.

So an endorsement is a disqualifer for GOP nominee? I guess that eliminates all the candidates except Romney. I hope you are going to be excited about voting for him because I am not. Go Santorum.

Sorry you do not understand the world of political payback and deal making. Mr Reagan did, that is how he ran the country with a democrat congress.

I had a 13 year sexual relationship with Santorum. I can prove this because he lives in PA and I’ve *been* to PA.

We should destroy this man.

They do. Most who are bashing Santorum right now are the liberals. The are upset that Romney and Newt are being ignored rightfully so. They are sad!!! ROTFLMAO. This is what we need and deserve! Santorum is a moral conservative. This is the first time in decades that we will have a conservative running. Isn’t it funny that we hear from the day after the Presidential election that we need a conservative to run for President. When we get one, they bash and bash the person. It is stunning and stupid of them to do this.

as the circular firing squad continues.

I live in PA. Rick Santorum is a GOOD man and a conservative, period. Did he make a political miscalculation? Of course he did. Does that make him any less a conservative? No.

His biggest critics here in PA are the libertarian leaning newspapers and those who just need someone to hate.

But, hey, we have to keep the firing squad continuing, let’s just keep pointing at our people until the only one left standing is Obama.

" Santorum voted for obamacare? "

Just more lies and propaganda to muddy the waters from those who have a agenda to bring Rick down....
How could Rick have voted for the HealthCare bill when he was not even in office at the time in the Senate ?

Rick Santorum served in Washington :

January 3, 1995 – January 3, 2007

“He made a mistake out of party loyalty.” <<<

This was more than a mistake. A mistake is when you do something in error. When you purposely defy conscience and with conservatives pleading to you for help, but you instead go out and hurt another conservative to please your bosses, to ingratiate yourself with the enemies of conservatives, just to advance your sorry booty, that is more than a mistake! Please, think of another word.

Santorum runs Right, uses the conservative voting block for engine oil, and then sits four square in the middle of the mob action going on at the Left of our party. Where was Rick in November, of 2010. He was rightfully OUT of office reading the tea leaves for another rightous run at the conservatives. He needed more engine oil for ‘12.
