Tens of thousands of Hungarians on Monday (2 January) went on the streets of Budapest in protest against controversial constitutional changes enacted one day earlier by center-right Prime Minister Viktor Orban, with former dissidents accusing him of "dictatorship."
Earlier that day, in a statement entitled "The decline of democracythe rise of dictatorship", 13 former Communist dissidents, a group to which Orban once belonged, accused him of "removing checks and balances and pursuing a systematic policy of closing autonomous institutions."
The letter also urged the EU not to "sit back and watch as (Hungary) is being held hostage by an outdated, provincial tyrant," and to "make a stand against" him.
Thanks to his super-majority in the Hungarian parliament, Orban last year passed a series of constitutional changes which critics say will limit media freedom and judicial independence. He also passed a banking law which has drawn the ire of the EU, the International Monetary Fund and the European Central Bank for putting the Hungarian central bank under Fidesz party control.

From Rorate Caeli, pertinent to the new Hungarian Constitution:
The new Constitution [Fundamental Law] of Hungary entered into force yesterday, and it must really be terrifying, considering the international media coverage of it.
So let us take a look at its most distressing aspects:
[Preamble:]
...
We are proud that our king Saint Stephen built the Hungarian State on solid ground and made our country a part of Christian Europe one thousand years ago.
...
We recognise the role of Christianity in preserving nationhood. We value the various religious traditions of our country.
...
We do not recognise the suspension of our historical constitution due to foreign occupations. We deny any statute of limitations for the inhuman crimes committed against the Hungarian nation and its citizens under the National Socialist and Communist dictatorships.
We do not recognise the Communist constitution of 1949, since it was the basis for tyrannical rule; therefore we proclaim it to be invalid.
...
Article L
(1) Hungary shall protect the institution of marriage as the union of a man and a woman established by voluntary decision, and the family as the basis of the nations survival.
(2) Hungary shall encourage the commitment to have children.
...
FREEDOM AND RESPONSIBILITY
...
Article II
Human dignity shall be inviolable. Every human being shall have the right to life and human dignity; embryonic and foetal life shall be subject to protection from the moment of conception.
Yes, outrageous, really.

I don’t see anything bad there, personally.
Super-majority and the Commies complain about dictatorship.
Look for the EUSSR to apply sanctions on a country with the timerity to tout "nationalism" and majority rule.
Remember Austria.
