“un-mothball the Missouri?”

In our Military Historian dreams, Mate!

I’m surprised that the regime hasn’t had it towed out to sea and scuttled - or given it to the Chicoms for scrap.

We would both love to see those big 16” long toms unleashed on some Jihaddists who really deserve it - but I think we also know that those awesome guns have probably spoken their last.

Islam would be offended, and we certainly can’t have that, now can we?

With sabot loads and smart projectiles, a BB still could be an asset for the future. A lot of interesting payloads out there too.

They are REALLY expensive guns to fire. Sadly, the cost of upgrading the fire control systems and associated turret loading systems was deemed prohibitive.

Still, there’s something to be said for the ability to smash the ever-lovin-piss out of your enemy while sitting safely over the horizon.
