“Open primary states are the same reason that we had McCain last time. The dems did their “Operation Chaos” on us before Rush even coined the term...”

If dems were voting for republicans, who was responsible for the ‘historic’ turnouts of dems voting for Obama or Hillary? I can’t believe there are enough more dems than republicans to vote for Obama and Hillary in such big numbers, and have enough leftover to sabotage the republican vote as well. Or can it be that conservatives were the ones voting strategically for Obama and Hillary, leaving moderate and liberal republicans to vote for McCain?

I don't recall if there was historic turn-out in open primary states for the Dems, but if there was, I would stand corrected, or your premise that both the dems and GOP voted in each other's primary may be true.

In either event, open primaries do not produce the best candidates. It produces the worst candidate for at least one party.
