I would too, but Romney has a strong organization and their selling point at the caucus will be that he can beat Obama.

And we don’t quite know how bad Newt is bleeding support.

Finally, we have no idea how the Paul people will show up and many of those are actually Democrats.

Their family alone should be enough votes to carry the day! LOL

From one caucus in Clinton Iowa:

Romney 51 votes
Santorum 33 votes
Paul 33 votes
Perry 12 votes
Gingrich 4
Bachman 2

I suspect this will be close to the final numbers relatively speaking.... Romney’s negative ads did a job on Newt for sure...

Early polls results indicate the Santorum surge is for real, as well as the Gingrich collapse. The others are about the same as several weeks ago.

Looks like Santorum picked up Freddie Newt’s voters after
The Grinch collapsed in Iowa.

You are the delusional one. There’s no dem crossover in iowa. Only independents can choose either party.

Who did Kristin Powers have to strap to get the job? My 90 year old grandma can give better opinion....

Perry and Bachman would be smart to drop off... or go deep into debt...

Gingrich is the real winner here...

Ron Paul takes Iowa?

I think that tells us what it means right?

If my memory severs me well, Reagan didn’t finish 4th.

You got three slots, Win, Place or Show.

If Gingrich comes in 4th, it will prove his collapse in Iowa.
Just a few weeks ago he was 1st. Exposing his boat load of baggage appears to have changed minds in Iowa.

Go Rick.

Since Iowa seems to be the kiss of death for candidates, I was hoping that Newt would not win there. He can do pretty good in N.H. The firing squad will be turned on Rick Santorum now and that will give Newt a chance to regain his standing. He’s been busy trying to come up with a strategy to foil all the negative campaign against him. He’s smart. He will do it, especially if there are more debates.

In the 1980 Iowa caucus, Reagan finished a close second to George Bush. Bush had 31.6% of the vote and Reagan had 29.5%. Even so, it was considered a crushing blow for Reagan (who recovered quickly in NH).

If Gingrich comes in 4th tonight, as it appears he will, I will have to say that Newt is pretty much finished. Looks like Santorum is going to be our best hope to prevent Romney's nomination.

Thanks for the history lesson. I knew Reagan did not finish 1st, but did not know where he finished. Santorum may end up being the Anti-Romulus.

“Watching Fox... They’ve written Newt off as an also ran...”

Is that what they said about Reagan after the Iowa caucus - when he came in 4th? - Indeed, Iowa is more of a reverse barometer - most candidates who WIN Iowa, do NOT go
on to win the primaries -
.

If Newt comes in fourth, same as Reagan did - I’m comfortable with that. (Romney came in first in Iowa before - didn’t do him much good. Also - out in the ‘real’ world, it’s just a fact that many will not vote for Romney because he’s a Mormon - and insult to injury, even Mormons don’t like him. He’ never been able to get above his average mid 20% - when the field gets watered down, others will leave him behind...I’m going to enjoy the results in SC - and watch Nikki realize she made a deal with the devil, and lost.)

BTW, is FOX and the other media deliberately reporting on precincts they know Newt is weak in? They’re reporting with just a few hundred votes counted?

I hope you’re right about Newt. Rick Santorum is a good man, but he will be destroyed, Palinized completely.
