I could’ve sworn I saw Perry stepping down last night? Didn’t he?

No, thank goodness.

Anita suggested he rethink his decision by sleeping on the coach.

No, but you're not exactly wrong to think that. He did the old "I'm gonna re-assess" announcement that almost always means "I'm out." But this morning he announced he was still in the race.

I certainly agree with critics who say that his initial "re-assess" announcement, at a dour post-Caucuses speech, was another misstep in a campaign that's had a lot of them. (Perry's a largely solid guy in office and obviously knows how to win in TX, but his national campaign has struggled to find its groove.)

Perry's announcement today makes no sense in light of his comments just last night. He had all but abandoned the race last night, and was "going home to Texas" to consider whether there was a path forward for him, and now this.

You've got to ask yourself: What changed between last night, and this morning? His polling numbers? Nope. Campaign donations? Unlikely. A phone call from the establishment RINO back room? One wonders...
